"America's Got Talent," NBC's hit summer series from "American Idol" producers FremantleMedia North America and Simon Cowell's SYCO Television, will be traveling to Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York as part of a nationwide search for the hottest performers in the country to compete in the blockbuster reality show's third season.

Last night, the second-season finale of "America's Got Talent" surged by 17 percent in adults 18-49 and 15 percent in total viewers above the results for last year's "Talent" finale, dominating the night by all key ratings measures, according to preliminary "fast affiliate-based" "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC has re-upped its popular summer series franchises "America's Got Talent" and "Last Comic Standing" for a third and sixth season respectively, it was announced today by Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.


"Both of these innovative series have proven to be summer staples and important franchises for NBC," said Craig Plestis, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, Development and Specials, NBC Entertainment.
