Million Dollar Decorators

Complications, tight deadlines and needy clients seem to be the theme of this week's Million Dollar Decorators.

Jeffrey Alan Marks kicks off the episode while him and his boyfriend, Ross Cassidy, travel to La Jolla to work on a house for a couple from San Francisco. Jeffrey has been working on this $20 million home for three years now and has been shopping all over the world for it, but now it has to be finished in 72 hours.

Meanwhile, Nathan Turner meets with his client/friend/diva Melissa, which he has been working on her house for eight years now and states it'll never be finished because she is always changing her mind. He is currently working on the veranda for her and some water damage to the area has wreaked havoc.

We pick up with Mary McDonald from last week and her client, Kendra, who is now selling the house Mary is in love with. Mary is to go minimal, per the realtor and Kendra, but Mary wants nothing to do with that. They visit the guesthouse and media room and their freshly painted rooms, which Mary loves.

Back to La Jolla and the house Jeffrey is working on. Halfway through the job, the clients' daughters want to come check out the house. Mind you, Jeffrey has not seen the actual clients in over a year and a half and has been dealing with the daughters, but the house is nowhere near done and Ross complains of clients seeing it halfway through and being turned off by it.

This is exactly what happens, as the daughters come in and pretty much like nothing that is done so far. Changes need to be made and in not much time.

We finally get to see Martyn Lawrence Bullard, as him and his assistant talk shop in his office, only to discover that he is addicted to chocolate, as he pounds down a whole box of them as they talk.

Nathan then gets a call from Melissa, as she is freaking out that the tile has arrived they ordered and 50 percent of it is broken. These are antique tiles, so they cannot be replaced.

In La Jolla, Jeffrey has some new sinks put in and is trying to get things in order, but is informed his custom-made bed he ordered is still not done and may not be done in time. Ross gets on the phone and does some major complaining to the contractor and gives him a half hour to start working on it...will this help?

Nathan arrives at Melissa's, only to discover that the tiles are in great condition and as antiques they are meant to be different shapes and sizes and chips out of some of them. Tells contractor if any more problems to call him and leave Melissa out of it for now, to avoid further issues.

Martyn goes to see a hypnotist to help curb his cravings for chocolate, which we later find out while at Kathryn Ireland's house for dinner, works as he now relates the taste of chocolate to the taste of anchovies.

Jeffrey gets some new rugs to replace the ones Lindsay, one of the daughters, did not like and is doing some last minute things when the bed does arrive...the complaining worked Ross! They get the room all setup just as Lindsay arrives and she gets another tour of the house, but this time it's going much better. She loves it!

The tile gets installed at Melissa's place and Nathan proceeds to show her. Melissa loves it and thinks the chips give it character...a victory for Nathan!

After some major shopping of accessories by Mary, and not sticking within any small budget, it is install day. She gets everything in place, after some disagreements with some of her assistants. Mary states, "I'm not doing this to make everyone that works for me happy."

Nathan finished up with the veranda and it is time for Melissa to see the finished project. She loves it and thinks it looks amazing. Having cost about $100,000, Melissa says the end result just brings happiness and that's all that matters.

Finally, it is reveal time for Mary, as she is to show Kendra how she went way over budget and did not keep the rooms simple. After seeing the rooms and what Mary did to them, Kendra loved them and said it was worth every penny.
