Last night's premiere of the Sober House had a promising start with lots of addict action in store. I am excited! “Sober House” is an extension of help for the addicts who just completed 21 days at Celebrity Rehab and three others who completed Sex Rehab a few months ago. It’s a home for people who have the common desire to stay sober and to support each other. Rehab tech Will Smith (no, not the Fresh Prince) will be the muscle of the house. Rehab tech Bob Forrest is on hand with his keep-it-real counseling. Bob told the guests that he isn’t chasing anyone this time around and that he could give a f$#%. Yes, he did!
Jennifer Giminez, (actress turned addict, turned life coach) is running the house. The Celebrity Rehab patients had one week at home before entering the SH (Sober House). When Kari Ann Peniche arrived she tested positive for crystal meth but swore that she didn’t use. She asked if she could have possibly tested positive if she was in the same room with people who were smoking it. Good one Kari.
Jennifer got more than she bargained for when she summoned Kari Ann to a group meeting. Kari Ann stayed true to her beauty queen title and said that she needed time to wake up. Also, when she wakes up, she needs juice and a cigarette. She then needs time to fully wake and freshen up. She also doesn’t want anyone to watch her wake up. Kari went on to request that Jennifer stop staring at her and fetch her some juice! Yes, she did!
Tom Sizemore entered SH clean as a whistle and could've had bells on. He looked great! However, when Jennifer searched his stuff…she found a CRACK PIPE! Tom claimed to have no knowledge of it. He said the suitcase wasn’t used since drug rehab so that means the drug rehab techs missed it? Really? As much as they went through all your stuff? Huh Tom? Jennifer said what I was thinking, “Tom IS a good actor”. But I just hope he was telling the truth. I’m rooting for Tom’s sobriety and his return to the big screen!
I am also rooting for former Alice and Chains bassist, Mike Starr. He seems to have such a good spirit but has sadly been addicted to heroin and other drugs for over two decades. Unfortunately, Mike relapsed during his week at home and had been detoxing for the past three days.
Heidi Fleiss (the self-acclaimed greatest Madam that ever lived) drug her suitcases in the house and didn’t say a word to Tom. We can’t forget that she holds a grudge from their past relationship that went sour as well as the fact that Tom whooped up on her. She was cool with Tom in the beginning of rehab but said mean, mean things to him during their graduation ceremony. Anyway, I’d like to see a “make-over” episode for this woman. Lip gloss, a brush…anything, please!
Dennis Rodman…need I say more? Toward the end of Celebrity Rehab, he finally came around to admitting to being an alcoholic. However, as he entered the SH it appeared his old rebellious attitude had returned. For some reason, he refused to sign a mandatory form. I’m trying to figure out if he simply wanted to start the show with a "show". Jennifer and Will were seriously chasing Rodman around with a pen. By the end of the night, he wound up hastily scribbling his name on the paper anyway. Crazy guy!
Jenni Ketcham appeared on Sex Rehab and is a former adult film star. The poor girl lost her virginity at age 12 and had been at “it” ever since. Penny Flame was her porn name and well…we all know the game. But she seems like a sweet girl who is ready to turn her life around.
Model/dancer Kendra Jade is another former adult film star. Dr. Drew apparently uncovered her problem with alcohol during her time in Sex Rehab.
Kendra Jade
It’s time for these adults to take some real responsibility for their lives. But according to some of the trailers, I’m afraid there are going to be some relapses, erratic behaviors and even some fights! See ya next week!
