EG Daily of The Voice Season 5

You may not have known E.G. upon first looking at her this season on The Voice, but you've certainly heard her voice before. Most known for bring Tommy Pickles from Rugrats to life, she always had a secondary passion for recording music. After her blind audition, she was scooped up by coach Blake Shelton and went on to win the battle round. E.G. chatted about battling against her friends to stay in the competition and her ultimate career goal in our exclusive interview.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: We've heard you for years but now, we're hearing your REAL voice! What made you decide to audition this season?
A. EG: I didn't actually sign myself up for it! It was done by a friend that I met at a party. I sang a song for her show on the internet and one day she called and said, "I hope you're not mad but I got you an audition for The Voice!" I already have a big career but The Voice isn't about your credits, your age, or where you're from. They said yes to the audition so I said yes to the audition. The whole thing was so surreal!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Don't take this the wrong way, but you're one of the older contestants in the competition. Were you worried about competing against young, pop artists?
A. EG: There are contestants that are 15 and they're my children's age. Most of the people are really young but it's such an ageless show. It's all about your voice and it's pretty incredible. It's pretty cool to be on the same show with a 15 year old or a 20 year old.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You came in singing country and you got Blake Shelton to turn around. Is there anything better than that?
A. EG: No! A flat no! I've always loved the show and I always wanted to be on his team. I gotta tell you, it was really a dreamy, pinch me moment. He's everything and more that you see on tv. He's this funny guy, he's so witty, and he really knows how to have a good time. He's also brilliant at music. When he gives you notes, he's really serious and he knows what he's talking about.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: We didn't get to see all of your battle round on last week's episode. Can you tell us a little bit about going up against Sam Cerniglla?
A. EG: I got to sing with this amazing singer, Sam, who I became good friends with. It almost didn't feel like a battle because we laughed so much during rehearsals. When it came time to battle, my heart dropped because I had to duke it out with my friend. It was a bittersweet moment. I'm not into competing with my friends but that's what you do. It could've gone either way but I was super grateful that I got to continue. Honestly, I feel like just getting to sing "Breathe" was enough for me. It's up on my website, egdaily.com, if you haven't seen it. To win my battle was like, "Wow, really?!" I just keep saying that!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Next up in the knockout round and it's a win or go home situation. How are you handling the pressure?
A. EG: You know, again, I'm not a big fan of competing against people I adore. I'm just gonna tackle it like I have and stay connected to the song. My whole career has been about animation or Tommy Pickles and now on The Voice, I get to put out my singing voice. No matter what happens, I have to say that just getting to sing on that stage was enough for me.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You've achieved so much in your voiceover career. What would be the icing on the cake for you?
A. EG: I think just to do something on the Country Music Awards. I would love to host and sing with people like Blake or Keith Urban... I think just to do more incredible performances on beautiful stages with incredible audiences would be such a blast. Something like that would be awesome! Maybe I could guest on Nashville or Glee, some of those shows. I just want to keep doing what I love to do.
