The X Factor Season 2

by Todd Betzold

The 24 remaining acts on The X Factor have all gone to their mentor's house and performed in front of them for one last chance to make it to the live shows. The mentors have thought about their choices and tonight we see each category go from six to four as the mentors reveal their picks to join them on the live shows.

We start with Britney Spears and the Teens tonight. Britney has her colored strips in her hair, so she is ready to go and tell them who is going home and who is staying. Diamond White is up first and Britney said she changed her mind about her on the performance and she liked it, but she was very nervous. That doesn't matter, as Britney is sending her to the live shows!

Carly Rose Sonenclar is up next and she heads to talk to Britney. She said there were a lot of stunning things about her performance, so of course she is going to the live shows. Next is Arin Ray, the guy I want to go home! He was put in a group last year on the live shows and didn't go far. He had his chance! Britney said there were a lot of things about his performance that were amazing, but she doesn't know if it is good enough to stand out on stage. She tells him he is through to the live shows, so I guess we have one of the people to leave early...yet again! I am sooooo mad.

With only one spot left, the next person up is James Tanner. She said there are a lot of technical things that need to be worked on with his voice and he is going home. He is upset, but said he will keep pushing. That leaves Reed Deming and Beatrice Miller. One of them makes it and one goes home. She brings in Reed first and tells him he has a great personality, but a lack of vocal training in his voice and needs to understand what it means to sing. Then it is Beatrice and she said that she feels her performances were better earlier and not sure if she can handle it. In the end, Reed is going home and Beatrice is through to the live shows.

Now is time for the Over 25s at L.A. Reid's home and up first is David Correy, who makes it to the live show. Daryl Black is next and he said he wants the fire and wants the stardom and apparently Daryl doesn't have it, so he is headed home. Next is Jason Brock and L.A. said he has a really strong voice and he is a fan, but can he become a massive star? He must think so because he sends him to the live shows. Tate Stevens is next and L.A. said that people tend to pull for him and he has lovability about him, but not a lack of confidence. We have country for the live shows, as L.A. moves him on.

We are down to Tara Simon and Vino Alan. Tara drives me insane and I want her to go home, so work with me L.A. He tells Vino that he just doesn't know if it can work and it would be a huge commitment on his part and that he lost a lot of sleep over Tara. He goes with Vino and sends Tara home!!! Thank you so much L.A., so Vino makes it to the live shows.

Next up are the Young Adults and Demi Lovato. The first up is Jenell Garcia and she said she was blown away with her, but she feels she is insecure with her performance and she needs that to be a pop star. Demi believes in her and Jennel is headed to the live shows. Next is Willie Jones and Demi said he is completely unique, but she feels there is an inner battle within his head between country and R&B. She thinks he is ready and he is in her final four.

Nick Youngerman is next and she tells him he has the ability to light up a room, but they have set a really high bar with all the talent they have seen and he is headed home. Demi brings in Paige Thomas next, which I am surprised they are not leaving it down to CeCe Frey, so does that mean they both made it and Jillian Jensen is going home? Demi said she is a beautiful person that has that star quality about her and Demi makes her cry big time, but then tells her she is going to the live shows!

That leaves us with CeCe Frey and Jillian Jensen, with one going home and one going to the live shows. This is tough one for me because I fell in love with CeCe during her last performance in front of Demi and Nick Jonas, but then Jillian has been a favorite of mine since the beginning. Demi brings them in and I am not happy with her! She sends CeCe to the live shows and she sends Jillian home. I think Jillian needed this show more than CeCe, but CeCe has grown a lot and I can respect that and she has grown on me, but I wanted Jillian real bad.

The last category of the night is Simon Cowell and the Groups, which features Emblem3, Sister C, Playback, Dope Crisis, Lyric 145 and Lylas. It will be down to four that will be headed to the live shows and up first is Lyric 145 (one of the groups they formed) and he loved the humor they brought into it and they are performers. Simon thinks they can blow people away and they are headed to the live shows.

Dope Crisis, which hasn't been really shown at all this season, so I am thinking they will be heading home. They feel they did great and Simon thinks they could have done no more in their performance, but he still sends them home. Emblem3 is next and they screwed up during their performance and missed some lyrics, so what will Simon do. Simon said this was the first time he got excited about a group and they are fun, but they weren't as rehearsed as the others the day before. He thinks they are winners and they are headed to the live shows.

Simon brings in Sister C and he said when they sang he was thinking he could recognize them on the radio. They have been worried about being likable, but Simon thinks America will love them and we have another country act in the live shows.

Now it is down to the girls versus boys, both the groups the judges formed this season. Simon brings them both in and this is it. I think Simon has to go with the boy band thing, since One Direction is doing so well. He felt chemistry between the boys and the girls had strong vocals, but he picks Lylas to move on to the live shows and Playback heads home.

Here are the teams for the live shows, which start on November 1:

Teens - Diamond White, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Arin Ray and Beatrice Miller
Young Adults - Jenell Garcia, Willie Jones, Paige Thomas and CeCe Frey
Over 25s - David Correy, Jason Brock, Tate Stevens and Vino Alan
Groups - Lyric 145, Emblem3, Sister C and Lylas

The X Factor airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8/7c on FOX.
