The X Factor Season 2

by Todd Betzold

The auditions are done on The X Factor and it is time to see the contestants that survived the audition round to try their luck in Boot Camp, which takes place in Miami this season! Can I make it to Boot Camp, Simon???

Things get started with taking a look at the singers make their way to Miami. After some emotional moments with their families, the singers get to Miami. They brought 120 singers it Miami and when the week is over they will be down to 24. The contestants will get put to different tasks during the week.

We get right to it and Task One: sing a song they came prepared with in front of the other 120 acts. First up is Diamond White, who I loved in the auditions. She takes on a Whitney song and is amazing and put a little twist on the song and I liked it. When this day is done and over with, half of the acts will be heading home! They have one chance.

Austin Corini is the next singer we look at, who does a great job. He is very timid onstage, but he has a strong voice. David Correy, with his tattoos and all, comes out singing a Duffy song and I love him. The judges love him and think he is entertaining. Dinah Jane Hansen is next and takes on Mariah and Simon loves her voice. Next up is Lyric Da Queen, with her eye patch and all! I don't think we saw her during the auditions, but Simon loves her. Jason Brock, the big queen that surprised me with an amazing voice, comes out strong again and L.A. loves him.

Carly Rose Sonenclar is next and she does good, but Simon questions if she is too old for her age. All the singers are worried after more and more head up there and seeing how strong everyone is. Jessica Espinoza is next and Demi said she is the only one in the competition whose first and last name she remembers. She takes on Mariah, but she has a raspy voice that I enjoy. Demi said she was disappointed and not as good as she remembers.

Jennel Garcia and Jillian Jensen share a moment outside, which was cute and I love Jillian so much...she is such a sweetheart. Jennel takes the stage and she is a little nugget, but such a good singer. Demi said she has crazy sex appeal.

The contestants are all paranoid and nervous with singing in front of each other, but Vino Alan comes up pretty confident. He said most of the people here singing are younger than his son. He comes out strong and very confident during his performance, so I guess he isn't nervous and Simon said he has a very good voice, but Britney said he is a maybe to her. Johnny Maxwell comes up with some rapping, but it is not that great.

Jordyn Foley, the cute little hey sent through even though Simon said no, comes up and sounds terrible. It continues as Manny Acosta, Trevor Moran and Nick Perrelli take the stage and suck it up. Jake Garza continues the trend and starts crying on stage as he loses the spot in the song. The judges feel bad for him and he goes backstage and loses it, even though his Mom is there to comfort him. He is 12 years old and I feel bad for the kid. Maybe the judges will give him a break?

Time to look at the boy bands, as L3vel, Citizen and Jetset take the stage. Emblem3 is nervous because they are not the regular boy band. They are cute and sound good and are doing the stupid dance moves on the stage. L.A. asked if you will love him 20 songs from now.

The annoying Tara Simon is next and she says you should shine wherever you are, so she will suck? I am not liking it, but then again I don't like her. She is too over-the-top for me. Now it is time for Willie Jones, who shocked everyone with his country voice. By no means does he look like a country singer, but he was fun and entertaining, but Britney said she is not a fan.

Paige Thomas and CeCe Frey are both singing "I Will Always Love You" and Paige goes first, which ticks off CeCe. Paige starts a little rough, but kicked it in and sounded good. Why do all these girls have to take on the divas though? Whitney was one of a kind and it is hard to come close. CeCe comes up next, so it is a showdown. CeCe is so cocky and arrogant and it makes me not like her, but the girl can sing. The fact that she wears the leopard tattoos on her face is annoying to me as well. I have to say, unfortunately, CeCe sounded better. Simon said that one of them actually nailed it, but not telling us which one.

That ends day one and it is time to find out who stays and who goes. The judges discuss the singers and it seems like they are split on some and who knows what is going to happen. The judges make a decision and they are split into three groups. The first group comes out, featuring Paige, Jason Brock, Jennel and Diamond. They get a yes and will be done from here! The second group comes out, featuring Jessica Espinoza, Jordyn Foley and Jake Garza, and they are a no and will be heading home! The last group comes out, which features CeCe, Johnny Maxwell, Jillian Jensen, Tate Stevens and Freddie Combs (the obese man in wheelchair), and they are moving on!

Boot Camp continues tomorrow night, but did anyone else not see Panda Ross tonight??? I missed her and loved her audition!!!!

The X Factor airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8/7c on FOX.
