Ghost Hunters International (GHI) Season 3

Story By: Chad Alan

"Sensing Evil : Argentina & Trinidad"

Chacachacare Island - Trinidad

When a place is called the "Quarantined Island of the Damned" it shouldn't surprise anyone that the land is infested with paranormal activity.  Chacachacare Island was first discovered by Christopher Columbus or the natives inhabiting the area at the time but why get into semantics?  The island was used as a leper colony run by nuns and was not shut down until 1984.  Mother nature has slowly taken over the buildings on the island and the tour guide leading the team made handy use of a machete to get around.  Voices, apparitions, footsteps, cold spots, shadow people, feelings of negative energy, and a story of a nun who committed suicide and now makes occasional appearances are just a few of the reported items of the paranormal.   Even the local Coast Guard had a run in with a spirit which pinned them down to their beds while sleeping in one of the buildings.  If visiting the island, stop by the nuns' cemetery and hang out with the ghostly apparitions that are said to inhabit their fenced in burial plots.

Team Lead Barry FitzGerald and co-Team Lead Kris Williams headed to the chapel where a nun committed suicide when she was informed should could not marry her lover.  They started an EVP session and laid out their full spectrum light but did not seem to get anything to communicate with them. They headed to the nuns' quarters where multiple people have reported being touched.  Joe Chin and Paul Bradford had investigated there earlier and Joe reported a bit of tightness in his right upper chest on two different occasions.  They finished up at the nuns' graveyard with an EVP session.  During evidence review, a female voice was caught on tape but the team could not understand what was being said.

Paul Bradford and Susan Slaughter were the first to hit to the actual leper colony buildings.  The infirmary was the first stop.  Footsteps, people talking, and children playing are a few of the recorded paranormal activities.  Paul heard something in a very deep voice say "Goooooooo'."  This was also caught clearly on the audio.  Not long after this something tugged on Susan's backpack followed by a voice saying "GET OUT,"  which was found later to be caught on their recorder.  A shadow then caught Susan's attention and the team noticed some other movement in the building.

The team did not call the island haunted but did believe there was paranormal activity going on.

Frigorifico Gualeguaychu - Gualeguaychu, Argentia

The Frigorifico was a slaughter house that was built in the 1920's and was the largest exporter of meat in the country before finally closing in the mid 90's. As the case with many factories, many accidents occurred over time, with some of them causing death.  Outside of accidents, one employee stabbed his supervisor multiple times when they got into a fight and this event is said to correlate with the blood curling screams that have been reported.  Over the years people have seen apparitions and shadows, heard voices having conversations along with residual noises of a factory in operation.  One woman taking pictures inside the factory caught many strange bright orbs in her pictures and reported feeling very uneasy while doing so.  The building and surrounding area looks lost in time and now only spirits of the past call it home.

The team may have found an explanation for the reports of hearing woman talking.  Paul noticed, that up in the ceiling of one of the rooms where these conversations were occurring, a bunch of pigeons that did seem to be making noises in various tones that could be mistaken for people murmuring or talking.  Joe and Scott noticed a figure dart across the hall from them in what is called the "Cold Chamber" and they were very interested to find that there was no exit from that area so it could not have been a person or an animal.  Susan and Brad spent some time in the actual slaughter house itself and did hear some footsteps and a shuffling sound but could not get any further interactions. They did catch an EVP that stated "It's my job." Maybe this was a former worker explaining what his purpose was at this factory.

The team could not call the slaughter house haunted but again did feel there was some paranormal activity going on.
