Last night on Big Brother, I'm sure many fans were tuning in eagerly for the same reason looking for the same answer: why did Dick Donato walk out of the house, and what's going to happen to his partner (and estranged daughter) Daniele?
CBS' answer: mum's the word for now. Dick's exit was one of the first things featured in last night's episode and, even with the hype built up around it and the emotional outpour afterwards (more on that later), there was still a lot of haze left around the matter.
But first, Porsche is upset that her and Keith were nominated for eviction. She worked so hard, she schmoozed the veterans--where could she have gone wrong? Gee, I don't know, maybe when she trusted the other half of the house (which is a minority, by the way) with her vote. Just a thought, you know? Brendon and Rachel try to assure Porsche she's staying, but the numbers seem to tell otherwise.
Back to Dick and his dilemma: he's called to the diary room only to not return. Instead, Rachel is called to the diary room to get a note that says Dick would be leaving the game, awarding the first golden key of the season to Daniele. You might think someone would be happy about this, but Daniele is sad and upset, partially because she thinks her game is ruined, and partially because of her dad's situation. Gotta keep your priorities straight, right?
While Daniele is crying, Jeff tries to calm everyone down. They can't do anything about it now, and they hold the power this week, so just focus on this week. SImpler things were never said so profoundly, Jeff.
Now this whole time, Keith has been silent and high-fiving Dominic all the time. But now that Dick is gone, I guess Keith lost his mind and really went crazy on the other houseguests, specifically Porsche. He turns it into "throw people under the bus" hour, which sparks conflict with Porsche. I just hope Keith bought a shovel before coming into the house, because he's really beginning to dig his own grave.
Before we know it, it's time for the Power of Veto competition. With a pair nominated and a pair as HoH, the last pair to play (making 6 people) is Jeff and Jordan, picked by the teams playing.
Normally I would talk about the competition, but there really was no element of power or struggles between the groups. Instead, Porsche and Keith both threw it, thinking the other was in more trouble, while Jeff and Jordan didn't care enough to win. So, Brenden and Rachel breezed to an easy win, making the targets on their back infinitely bigger.
As if that wasn't bad enough for the houseguests, it seems the producers have picked up an extra evil streak this season with the Have Nots. The choices for their food this week: gumdrops and grits, jelly beans and jerky or rock candy and radishes. Really? Can people subsist off of that?
Back to the house, which Brendon and Rachel now think they own, thanks to winning the first two competitions. Never mind that they still have nine-plus weeks in the house, they're clearly dominating the whole game right now. They continue to play the intimidation game with the newbies, hoping that they can strike a deal so they remain safe next week, too.
Cassi isn't having any of it, so she tells it to Rachel straight up: it's clear the newbies are keeping the newbies and the veterans are keeping the veterans. Rachel says she's hurt by Cassi's comments, so they get into a fight instead. Rachel then tries to make a deal with Keith, since it's now pretty evident that he's going to be the one staying. It's almost like watching a trainwreck in slow motion.
So it goes without saying that Brendon and Rachel didn't use the power of veto, leaving Keith and Porsche up on the block. Now all that's left to be seen is what happens when the veterans go head-to-head with the newbies on voting, because saving Porsche seems nothing short of a miracle at this point.
