The Real Housewives of New York City Season 4

by Mike Bandy

Last night's drama-fest began with Ramona getting ready for a photo shoot for her skin care line. Look, I think Ramona is great TV, but WHY does this woman insist on modeling? Even with Sonja's "helpful" tips, her shots mostly looked like she was somewhere between coitus and constipation. I just can't.

Next, it was off to Cindy's and Jill came over to see her apartment, which she loved. Cindy spoke about her dinner with Ramona at The Four Seasons, and how disappointed she was at her extreme behavior. Well, look, we've got to remember that Ramona Singer is a star. She can't be expected to be sane too! That's too much pressure. Jill was happy because Cindy was willing to go up against Ramona, and because she's saying what everyone else is thinking.

Meanwhile, Sonja had fashion designer extraordinaire Chris March (yes, THAT Chris March) over to her house to see if he could jazz up her costume for the Masquerade Ball she was having. She was apparently going to be dressed like a slutty Marie Antoinette, I'm guessing for the purpose of making other people's heads roll. LuAnn and Jill were searching for costumes for the party as well, and Jill was excited because since her breast reduction, she no longer has to wear a bra. Fantastic. Meanwhile, Sonja was talking about ruffle panties for her costume, and I think I lost consciousness.

I came to just in time to see Cindy and her babies at home with her brother, Howie. Kevin, the twins' father, arrived and spent some time with them. Cindy and Kevin have an odd off-again, on-again relationship, but they seem to be working things out in order to co-parent their children. It seems like a happy, well-adjusted thing going on, which makes me worry that Cindy may be too boring to stick around for another season...

One thing that's NOT boring - Sonja's party! Chris March did an awesome job detailing her costume, adding lots of embroidery and feathers (oh come on, the man made a dress out of hair on Project Runway, you KNEW there was gonna be feathers involved somewhere!). Once she arrived at the party, most of the women were already there, and they all found it to be a much smaller affair than they expected it to be. The highlight of the evening was when Sonja bent over and then realized she'd forgotten the ruffle panties she was so caught up on before. The entire party saw it and they were talking about her. This is the second time we've seen her backside this season, and it concerns me. It really does.

Cindy and Jill went to the dentist together, which...why? Cindy was going to have her teeth redone, and Jill decided she was going to take over the situation. She told the doctor exactly what to do, and he did it. It looked like Cindy was really annoyed, but she didn't say anything. And really, how can you say anything. It's Jill. It's gonna happen whether you like it or not.

Then came the real drama of the episode - Ramona's launch party for her pinot grigio line! Things were going smoothly for a few seconds, until Jennifer (the bride from the wedding at the beginning of the season) arrived and told Ramona that Jill was saying negative things about Alex and Simon, and about Ramona, at her wedding. Ramona was very upset, and when she saw Jill, it was ON!

Ramona pulled Jill aside and launched an attack on her for talking behind her back, and Jill didn't take it very well. The two women yelled frantically at each other, Ramona insisting that Jill was a backstabber and she was tired of her talking behind her back, and Jill insisting that Ramona was spreading lies and that she was out of control. After saying that Ramona has no class, Jill stormed outside, where she met up with Jennifer and confronted her about what was said. Jennifer admitted it, and in kind of an anti-climactic response, they hugged it out and Jill asked Jennifer to just tell her if she has a problem with her.

It's not over yet, folks! Jill came back to the party, and back to Ramona, to let her know that she'd spoken to Jennifer, but by now, Ramona was way too shrill to listen to anything Jill had to say. She asked why Jill couldn't talk to her that way, and Jill said that she's had a problem with Ramona for over a year. Jill ended up leaving with Luann, and she was crying in the limo about what an evil person Ramona was, and that she'd never speak to her again. Meanwhile, Ramona was crying to Alex inside...about what an evil person Jill was, and that she'd never speak to her again. Scripted? Nah...not THIS show!

Next week, it's looking like a fight between LuAnn and Ramona, and the first inklings of a trip to Morocco! See you then!
