Bachelor Pad

by David McAlpine

Last night on Bachelor Pad, the anger is starting to bubble over from the previous ceremony where Craig and Jessie were sent home. Gia asks Nikki if she voted for Craig (even though she wasn't the only one to not go with the plan), and Nikki chooses to tell her the truth. Gia can't help but get upset and talk about how big the target is on her back, then proceeds to tell Kiptyn that Nikki is the reason why he's still here.

So, a review: Nikki screwed herself by telling the truth, then Gia proceeded to a) give up and b) tell Kiptyn she was plotting to get him out and tell him who saved him. Even better: Gia starts pleading to Kiptyn that she doesn't want this to be a couples thing and she'd like to stay. Judging by everyone else's reaction, she's kind of screwed. I believe "hot mess" would be the proper term for this moment.

Chris comes to introduce the next challenge, which shocked me that it wasn't the first competition--it's kissing challenge time! Not that we haven't seen enough snogging to last us a god year, but this show really doesn't seem complete without a way for some people to show off their, um, talents.

So the standard rules stood: each of the women was blindfolded and kissed by the men, then vice versa; the guy and the girl with the most votes would win. Cut back to Gia, who has a boyfriend at home (remember this is the girl who cried when Wes told her he loved her), who says she's uncomfortable with the competition.

Now, I must say, the editors must have had a field day with this competition. There's tongues flying everywhere and most of the contestants are quickly losing any morsels of dignity they had before this. And the kissing only gets more slutty until Gia breaks down when it's her turn, calling everyone else amateur pornstars. Meanwhile, Jonathan is enjoying this a little too much and most of the girls are really freaked out by it.

After all the lip-locking and tongue-swallowing is finally over, Dave and Peyton are crowned the winners and the date card arrives, announcing that the winners and their dates would be taking an overnight trip to Vegas. Dave picks Nikki, Krisily and Natalie (the latter because she's always having a "good time"--ew) and they make a beeline for the topless pool at The Mirage.

Nikki seems to be kind of into Dave, trying to get his attention after their amazing kiss. But nothing is getting his attention better than Natalie's bikini top, which gets even better when she takes off the top in the hot tub. It was hook, line and sinker for Dave, who gave her the rose, booted Nikki and Krisily from the date and dragged Natalie to the Fantasy Suite.

Peyton's date (With Kiptyn, Jesse and Kovacs) was a little classier, with drag racing instead of a topless pool and tacos instead of straight up alcohol. Tenley is concerned about Kiptyn's wandering eyes, so she tries to make sure he's going to be a good guy, but he's not having any of it, because he doesn't want people to think they're a couple.

After the testosterone that was Peyton's date, which you could tell she was trying to enjoy, but it was really all about the guys, Kiptyn tries to charm Peyton into thinking that he's not dating Tenley. Well, since we're all lying here, Kovacs starts trash-talking Elizabeth and Jesse tells Natalie that she's not his type of girl. That's all she needed to hear, because he gets a big kiss, a rose and a night in the Fantasy Suite. In Jesse's words, he's "super stoked," so good for him.

While all of this is going on, Wes can't get enough of Gia, though I think he gets a sick pleasure out of screwing with her since everyone thinks she's on her way out. He keeps flattering her left and right and she wants more, so he starts singing to her on his guitar. Her comparison: Shakespeare. I wouldn't agree, but, you know, to each his own.

However, Wes seems to be super serious about Gia. Or maybe he thinks that he's got her wrapped around his finger. Either way, he doesn't want her to leave, so he's on the couple breakup bandwagon. Gia's doing her own work with tears, insisting that she was just the messenger.

Enter the alcohol and Wes gets increasingly belligerent, threatening Kovacs' place in the game if Elizabeth doesn't go home, which leads people to even more confusion because of his sudden affinity for Gia. The girls, on the other hand, are split between Kovacs and Jonathan with no reason for either.

After much tension and dramatic pausing, Jonathan gets the boot for the guys, increasing the average height of the cast by approximately two inches. For the girls, however, it's a tie between Gia and Elizabeth, leaving Dave to make the deciding vote--and he sends poor Gia home.
