Margam Castle - Port Talbot, Whales

Built in 1830 by the Talbot family, the Margam Castle is pure representation of how the wealthy spent their money in the 1800’s.  Multiple rooms, levels, staircases, and exterior buildings created an almost compound affect.  Both Mr. Talbot and his daughter Emily died while living in the castle and both are reported to have been seen wandering the various rooms and halls.  The current caretakers and visitors have seen grey shadowy figures cross through the rooms, heard strange noises, and witnessed red, green, and white lights streak the ceilings.  A “White Lady” is also said to appear from time to time...possibly Emily.

Brandy Green and Paul Bradford started the investigation in the outside courtyard and Brandy believed she heard a female’s voice say “Help Me!”  When they reviewed the tape later, nothing was heard.

GHI team lead Robb Demarest and Ashley Godwin did their investigating in one of the upstairs rooms.  They set up multiple communication devices and started their EVP session.  Robb believed he may have heard a man’s voice call out and made a note to check the tape during their analysis.  Inside scoop, they got it.

Paul Bradford and new investigator, Scott Tepperman, investigated the servant’s quarters and seemed to have some playful spirits which took them from room to room.  Barry came back to join them and as Scott was talking to the camera explaining what their process was, something grabbed the back of his leg.

Brandy and Robb headed to the St. Mary’s church or Chapter house has it was referred as, or what’s left of it, located in a higher wooded area.  Mother Nature has definitely taken over the church.  Robb kept asking for one of the priests to communicate with them and he believed he received a response when he asked “Do you know what’s going to happen to me?”  The reply, “Get Out!”.  Brandy also received a response back to her question of “What is your name?”  The reply, “Tom.”  There was a man named Tom who worked at the Chapter house and he must really have liked his job because apparently he never left.

Paul and Ashley headed to the Chapter house, which housed the local monks.  Ashley seemed to be continually aware of footsteps and noises in their area, but of course, no one else was around.  Robb sent “jittery” Barry Fitzgerald to see if he can catch anything with his camera and what he might have found would be looked at later.

Outside of the EVP’s they found, Brandy did catch a pretty good ghostly figure out in the Chapter house area and the team also found some strange lights in one of their videos.  Maybe the strangest occurrence of the night was the changing of Ashley’s hair color from blond, while investigating, to a reddish brown, during the evidence review.  She took the look to their next investigation in England?  Port Talbot must have some great salons

The Ostrich Inn - Colnbrook, England

If you’ve heard or seen the theatrical story of “Sweeney Todd” then you should be interested in the investigation of “The Ostrich Inn.”  Sweeney Todd is a story about a barber that would lure rich men into his shop and when they plopped down onto the barber chair they would end up sliding down into a trap door to the floor below where they would meet their final demise.  The Ostrich Inn was run by a husband and wife named the Jarmons and is considered the 3rd oldest pub in the U.K. dating back to the 1100’s.  The Jarmons were convicted of killing 16 people while they managed the Inn but later Mr. Jarmon admitted to killing over 60!  Mr. Jarmon would get the rich visitors, who were passing through town, drunk, and send them up to one of the bedrooms called “The Blue Room.”  When the customers were asleep, Mr. Jarmon would hit a switch and the bed would slide backward and the person would drop into a vat of oil.  Fried customers would ultimately be on the next night’s menu.  The current manager has had more then a few experiences in the Blue Room from shadow figures, to noises, to strange feelings of anger and suicide.  Customers dinning at the Inn have felt like they were being strangled.  A “Grey Lady” has also been seen walking through the building.

Robb and Paul started the investigation in the famous Blue Room, it took some time but eventually they were able to catch some noises that seemed to be coming from the attic above.  There was a hole in the ceiling of the room so they peeked up inside the attic and Paul heard footsteps but nothing more.  They left all equipment running to see if anything might voluntarily show itself.

Paul and Barry headed to the management flat and heard some noises coming from another room.  Paul opened the door and saw a foot and it freaked him out enough to close the door and try and pretend it didn’t happen.  They both opened the door again to find nothing but did send up some extra recording equipment.

Paul and Robb moved their investigation to the dinning area.  Robb began calling out Mr. Jarmon pretty harshly, trying to get a response.  Shortly after this, they heard something out in the hallway but nothing was found.  They did get some significant EMF readings that went up and down as they moved around.  Usually something electrical gives a constant reading.

The team really didn’t have any evidence to show the client so they could only share their personal experiences.  They wouldn’t call the Inn haunted but I don’t think the current manager need to hear the team’s opinion.
