First Elimination On Dancing With The Stars

Tonight the format was a little different than what we’re used to.  As each couple was selected to be “safe” they danced a new routine in which they will be judged tonight and possibly eliminated tomorrow night.  I’m guessing this new format is because they have so many couples competing this season.  I doubt the show will run three nights a week later in the season but we’ll have to wait and see.

The first couple eliminated was Jeffrey Ross & Edyta Sliwinska which, after last night’s performance, was no big surprise to anyone.  The rest of the couples were safe.  Here’s a synopsis of their dances tonight and the judges combined score as well as mine:

Lance & Lacey danced the quick-step.  I smiled all the way through it. It was fantastic!  Judges Score = 21 ~ My Score = 8

Misty & Max danced the mambo.  Wow – what an improvement over last night and it’s only the first week!  Judges Score = 21 ~ My Score = 8

Maurice & Cheryl danced the mambo.  Cheryl is a master at choreographing for her student and always making them look their best.  It was hot!  Judges Score = 21 ~ My Score = 9

Brooke & Derek danced the quick-step. Another terrific dance – I couldn’t take my eyes off of this beautiful mother of four.  Judges Score = 26 ~ My Score = 10

Cloris & Corky danced the mambo but there really wasn’t much dancing going on.  But as always Ms. Leachman entertained her audience!  Judges Score = 16 ~ My Score = 5

Toni & Alec danced the quick-step.  Toni did a great job but I was concerned we were going to see another Marie Osmond repeat from last year where she fainted.  Judges Score = 23 ~ My Score = 8

Warren & Kym danced the quick-step.  Warren made this dance look effortless and we all know that is not the case with the quick-step!  Judges Score = 22 ~ My Score = 10

Ted & Inna danced the mambo.  Unfortunately I’ll have to use a Simon Cowell comment here. He thinks he is better at it than he actually is.  Judges Score = 19 ~ My Score = 6

Cody & Julianne danced the quick-step. The judges seemed to love it but there was something missing for me. I’m not sure what it was.  Judges Score = 23 ~ My Score = 7

Rocco & Karina danced the mambo.  Not only did he get his hips moving but he looked really hot in those tight black pants.  No need for him to worry about votes for tomorrow night!  Judges Score = 21 ~ My Score = 8

Susan & Tony danced the quick-step.  It was much nicer than last night.  She really relaxed and proved she can do this!  Judges Score = 22 ~ My Score = 8

Kim &  Mark danced the mambo.  She looks like a pussycat doll but she definitely can’t dance like one.  Judges Score = 18 ~ My Score = 6


The top couples for night number two were once again Brooke & Derek (26), Toni & Alec (23), and Cody & Julianne (23).   At risk for tomorrow night’s elimination are Kim & Mark (18) and Cloris & Corky (16).
