The elimination show kicked off with the Top 12 doing a Beatles medley, which you all know I thoroughly enjoyed (being that I’m a hippie at heart). In addition we were also entertained by one of last year’s Idol favorites (and one of mine too), Katherine McPhee along with powerhouse musical composer David Foster. Katherine performed a brilliant rendition of George Harrison’s SOMETHING. Go Katherine!

Now I would never buy a Ford, but I have to admit I LOVE the commercials they create for American Idol with the contestants. Tonight’s commercial had a political theme which reflects the current theme going on in our country right now.

Well thank goodness they made an improvement to the elimination show tonight. Is somebody from American Idol reading my blog????? Instead of having the person who is eliminated sing their way out, they had the bottom three sing before the elimination was announced. I’m sure it was still difficult for the contestants, but nowhere near as difficult as trying to sing when you know you’ve been kicked off the show. Bravo to whoever thought up that idea!

In the bottom three were Syesha Mercado and Kristy Lee Cook which sounds about right since I gave Syesha and Kristy Lee a “5” for last night’s performance. I wasn’t surprised that David Hernandez was also in the bottom three because even though I loved what he did last night, the judges hated what he did, so there’s no doubt in my mind that what they had to say influenced voters. I just didn’t think it would influence them enough for him to be voted out over Kristy Lee Cook. That took me by surprise and I am not pleased. I’m still trying to get over Danny Noriega being voted out last week. By the way, did anyone catch Danny on Ellen today? He’s just adorable-ish.
