New site managers have stepped up to be team leaders and the contestants find themselves in Palm Springs to turn two mid-century modern houses into dream homes. What the owners are really looking for isn't just updating their dilapidated homes, it's having an amazing outdoor oasis to beat the Palm Springs heat. The real question is if the designers can beat the heat this contest is putting on them. There is one week to complete this undertaking and with the narcissism flaring, we soon learn that it is just as important to not be too nice as it is to stay on task. The one thing no one can call Elaine is nice. Can she deliver or is she all bark?
Now tell me, how does one accomplish a complete renovation, inside and out, during a rainstorm... in a desert? With utter panic, is the answer. Especially when there is only five hours to reveal. Even so, both teams somehow pull it off. I'm not saying the bedding was ironed and attractive, but the rooms appear pulled together for the most part.
The neighborhood council made up of local experts vote Team Blue as the winners of this challenge, leaving Team Red with their second loss in consecutive weeks. Designers on the chopping block this week are: Christina for her busy master bedroom, Nancy's guest bedroom for too many textiles, and Erinn's overwhelming master bedroom. Nancy. For lack of sophistication. And, honestly, you kind of see this one coming after her breakdown in the final hour proves inept.
