The Voice Season 4

by Jessica Blackwell

The Voice is baccckkk! The original singing competition is no stranger to shake-ups, and this season, we've got two new judges. Latin recording star Shakira, and mega star R&B crooner Usher joined the show to give Christina and Cee-Lo a break to focus on their music.

Here are the best performances from the first round of Blind Auditions:

The Morgan Twins

After a hair-raising performance from the coaches, first up were the Morgan Twins from Rochester, NY. Within the first three bars, Usher and Blake turned their chairs for the soulful rendition of Alicia Keys' mega hit "Fallen" with Adam and Shakira following after the second verse. Somehow these beautiful ladies managed to sing in such unison that they sounded like one person. I guess that's the power of twins! Since the got the four-chair turnaround, they had their pick of the litter for judges. In the end, they chose Blake as their coach, I wonder how he's going to explain this to Miranda?

Danielle Bradbury

Danielle, a 16 year old beauty with the title bullying survivor under her belt, put Taylor Swift to shame with her amazing rendition of "Mean". She earned attention of all the judges except Shakira and chose Blake, earning him another blond bombshell for his team.

Vedo

The Atlanta native with the golden voice chose to sing his version of Justin Beiber's "Boyfriend" to get the attention of Usher. It worked, and Usher was the only judge who turned his chair. It was touching to see the young man, who's mother is dying from cancer, get closer to his dreams.

Chris Thomas

The coaches got a huge shock when they turned their chairs around to see a man singing, in falsetto, an amazing rendition of Whitney Houston's "Saving All My Love For You". I was shocked at how much he sounded like a woman! Shakira was the only one who turned around and kept her shock in check so the other judges wouldn't be curious enough to turn their chairs around. Well played Shakira, you've got a vocal powerhouse on your hands!

Judith Hill

This beauty earned the four chair turnaround with her amaaaaazing version of Christina Aguilera's "What A Girl Wants". She's actually already semi-famous in her own right, she was set to perform with Michael Jackson on his This Is It tour, and when he passed away she sang at his funeral. Every single coach turned around for her, but she chose Adam. Adam didn't have any luck up until this point, when he landed THE ONE.

The first round of auditions left Blake with three acts, Usher and Shakira with two, and Adam with one. Tomorrow night we're in for the second part of the premiere, and the previews boast the biggest battle in Voice history over an artist. Can't wait to see who it is! Stay tuned!

The Voice airs Mondays at 8pm, EST on NBC.
