Bikal tribe on Survivor Caramoan

by Gina Scarpa

The pressure and stress of playing the game of Survivor has pushed many a contestant to their breaking point over the years, but Brandon Hantz's epic meltdown last night will definitely go down in history. It seems Lil Hantz has reached his breaking point in the game. He misses his wife and kids, and feels like he made a selfish move by coming to play the game of Survivor again. If his tribe loses the next elimination challenge, he wants them to vote him out, no doubt about it. Well, until the next morning when he changes his mind and says he wants to stay. Did I mention he admitted to thinking about burning down the shelter and peeing in the food to people too? Not exactly a way to keep yourself in the game.

In the reward challenge, two players from each tribe must hold onto a rope and keep a basket in the air as three members from the opposing tribe toss coconuts into it. I'm shocked that Reynold and Eddie didn't step up since they're the self-proclaimed physical forces on the tribe. Instead, Michael and Matt took the ropes against Phillip and Brandon. Brandon held on as long as humanly possible but dropped first, followed by Matt. Phillip's trash talking helped distract some of the Gota members from landing coconuts, which paid off as Michael dropped. Bikal wins, and takes a barbecue feast back to camp with them.

You would think that the win would start to brighten Brandon's spirits but Phillip's bravado puts a damper on that with a quickness. Apparently, Special Agent Shepherd is under the impression that he singlehandedly won that thing. Now, don't get me wrong, he has been seriously performing in challenges - more so than I remember during Redemption Island - but it's amazing how playing the game for one season can go to your head. Brandon's right. The reason Phillip got to the end the first time around was because Boston Rob knew hands down he'd beat him. Yet, Phillip's acting like he runs this town and Brandon isn't having it.

The pair supposedly had squashed their differences but the next day, when Phillip tells him not to bite the hand that feeds him, it's the last straw. Brandon dumps all of the food into the sand and looks about one more comment from Phillip away from knocking him out. Since nobody wants to go toe to toe with him, the try to salvage as much of the rice and beans as possible and continue on with a plan to throw the immunity challenge to the fans.

At the immunity challenge, Jeff tries to get to the bottom of what's been going on within the Bikal tribe, which opens up a whole can of worms. Brandon is still so fired up that Jeff has to bring him over next to him out of fear he'll start a rumble on the beach. Corinne makes a speech about Brandon's unacceptable behavior and announces that they're going to forfeit. Jeff takes a vote right there and unanimously, Brandon is eliminated, but not before warning the fans not to let the special agent anywhere near the final tribal council. (Reynolds' face was priceless throughout the entire exchange.) Jeff calms Brandon down with a little massage before sending him on his way and yes, it was as weird as it sounded.
