The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons

by Gina Scarpa

It's nice of MTV to let the players on The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons out of the house for a while, especially considering they're usually caged up all season long. After a day at the beach, and a little too much partying for some, Knight decides to throw Nany's bag of laundry into the pool. I'm not sure why he wants to mess with someone in his own alliance but his strategy is to try to break people down mentally. Jemmye is not happy with her ex, so she rats him out to the house. Dustin plays the role of hero, diving into the pool to save Nany's clothes and many people rally around her to keep her spirits up while Knight sits upstairs wondering what the big deal is.

This week's challenge is called "Don't Weigh Me Down" and two players (or one player if you're Big Easy) stand on a platform and hold up a metal box while opposing teammates throw rocks into them. When the box hits the ground, the team is out. What a perfect opportunity for alliances to show their true colors and gang up on their targets. Of course, the Superalliance goes for Brooklyn first, followed by Fresh Meat but Eric isn't going down without a fight. His box was legit overflowing with rocks before he finally dropped! When a few rocks get thrown into San Diego's bin, Frank freaks out and they drop, but not before New Orleans is out. It comes down to Vegas and Cancun, with Nany and Alton not wanting to give up the fight to be the power team, but Jonna and CJ are able to hold on a little longer and end up with the win.

The players head out to another night at the bar, where Devyn and Eric cuddle up and reflect on how crazy it's been that they found what seems to be a real relationship. Then, all hell breaks loose on the bus ride back. Devyn gets loud about the major alliance going on, but it's Nany who ends up taking heat from Knight after tossing a few comments his way. He calls her every name in the book, while a lot of people sit by, trying to stay out of it. Sure, a few jumped in to try to settle it but because nobody actually told Knight to shut up, things continue to escalate at the house. Nany is continuously held back by everyone from Frank to Trishelle in order to keep her from hitting Knight. She throws glasses, she breaks down, and she threatens to quit. Dustin is able to talk her down and get her to go to sleep but the damage Knight has done is clear. New Orleans should be the first team targeted once the alliance takes care of Brooklyn and Fresh Meat. Plus, Knight's behavior only solidifies to Jemmye that she did the right thing by ending her relationship with him.

Cancun decides to throw Fresh Meat in against Brooklyn (surprise surprise) for a mental elimination challenge. Obviously, it'll be Big Easy and Camila going in for Fresh Meat, and it should be Devyn and JD going in for Brooklyn since they didn't have to go in last week. That means, though, that Devyn will face off against Eric and only one of them will get to stay. Before the challenge, Eric gets mad at Devyn because she wouldn't tell him the biggest age difference between her and a boyfriend of hers from the past. Real World fans may remember that she likes to date older guys, but she's worried how he'll react so she doesn't want to talk about it.

Amazingly, and I mean AMAZINGLY, it's Knight who is able to facilitate a reconciliation between them on their last night together in Turkey. Whether or not they'll last outside of the game remains to be seen but they clearly have something real going on here. Why waste your last night together fighting about something that happened in the past and that you can't change? In the arena, Devyn does end up volunteering but in order to find out what happens, we'll have to wait until next week. This episode ended with a "To be continued..."
