The Voice Season 3

The coaches on The Voice are getting very close to having their teams filled. We are just 12 acts away from all the coaches having full teams, so expect the Battle Rounds to start maybe Tuesday of next week??? I love the Blind Auditions, but I am ready for some Battle Rounds on The Voice!

The next singer is from the town right next to me...crazy! Sylvia Yacoub is 19 years old from Muskegon, MI. She was born in Egypt and her Dad brought them to America so his kids could follow her dreams. She starts out rough for me, but then kicks it in as it goes on. It takes the judges some time, but then Christina, Blake and Cee Lo all turn around while Adam just sat back and listened. Christina said it was so much fun and sassy at the end. Blake said Sylvia sounds like a country name, even though she sang "Only Girl In The World." Cee Lo said she sounded like the only girl in the world to him. Sylvia goes with Team Christina.

Next up is a little nugget and I love it. His name is IJ Quinn and he is 25 years old from Warsaw, NC. He is a hog farmer and he even admits that his voice is a little high and some people think he sounds like a girl. He does have a weird voice and very high pitched. I am not a fan of it and it just doesn't seem that great to me. He has some good moments and ends on a good note, but not that strong. Adam said he says it with love, but he sounded like a girl and it sounded like he was straining. Christina said he had high energy, but lay back in it a little.

Carson Daly heads to Long Beach, CA, to handout the personal invitation to the Blind Auditions for Charlie Rey, who is 20 years old and works in a smog shop for his Dad. He's been dreaming of this opportunity since he was eight years old and here it is now. The carbon monoxide is destroying his voice and he needs one of the chairs to turn around for him. He has a very strong voice and is very good-looking, so he will win some votes. Blake turns around and Adam joins him later. Blake said he has that cool, confident factor and he wants to be a part of that. Cee Lo said he got swept away by it and he enjoyed it. Adam said he is a better coach than Blake. Charlie goes with Team Blake.

The next singer is Amanda Brown, who is 27 years old from The Bronx. She said she spent most of her life growing up in the church, but when she first heard Radiohead she thought what was this? She decided to go full force from that point on. She has sung background for singers, including Adele, but she has yet to be able to breakout as a lead singer. She has a very strong voice and is very confident on stage, but it looked like she was not getting anyone to turn around. Cee Lo turned around right as the song was ending. Christina said she got better as the song went on. Cee Lo said he won't regret that he pushed the button.

This is the type of audition that you want to root for. The next singer is Yolanda Barber, who is 55 years old from Pittsburgh, PA. She has been singing for 45 years and moved to L.A. at 16 years old and never had a manager. She did gigs here and there and then started working on a cruise ship, which she did until a couple years ago when they let 30 workers go because of the economy. She is now driving a school bus and is the oldest contestant this year. She has a very strong voice, but after 45 years of course she does. She doesn't get any of the coaches to turn around. Adam said that she is amazing. Christina said she doesn't need to be driving a school bus with that voice.

The last singer of the night and it looks like the coaches will be fighting for this one. Cassadee Pope is 22 years old from West Palm Beach, FL, and she is a full-time musician. She was in a band that did a few tours with Fall Out Boy. She loves her band, but she is ready to make it on her own. Before she heads out on the stage she gets a special message from Pete Wentz wishing her luck. She is a very pretty girl and has a very good voice and she gets Adam, Blake and Christina to turn right around. Cee Lo takes a minute, but he joins them and we have a four chair turnaround, which is the first in a while. Christina said that was well-executed and you really held your own. Adam said he would be so honored to have her on his team and he knows what to do with her. Cee Lo said it was a great performance. Blake said there is no one else like her and he believes with 200% of his heart she is a superstar. Cassadee Pope goes with Team Blake, so those are some big additions for Blake tonight.

After another night of Blind Auditions, here is the tally: Team Adam with 14 acts, Team Blake with 14 acts, Team Cee Lo with 14 acts and Team Christina with 14 acts, so two spots open on each team.
