The X Factor has shocked us this season with their auditions. Who thought that Willie Jones would come out and sing country music??? Demi Lovato said that he looked like Fresh Prince, so shouldn't he be rapping? Instead, he comes out with this deep, country voice and blows the judges away with his talent. The judges all voted for him to move on to the next round of The X Factor Season 2. Today, he talked with RealityWanted in an exclusive interview about singing country music, his plan as the show goes on and much more.
Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What made you initially try out for The X Factor?
A. Willie: My friend told me about it. She was out musical theater director. She said I would be perfect for it. She knew I really wanted to have a singing career too. I kind of fell out of it because I was really getting into musical theater, but she was just like go for it. I talked with my Mom and we drove out there and I went for it.
Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What made you choose "Your Man" as your audition song?
A. Willie: I'm a really big country fan. In music today, a lot of the R&B songs are really high and this was one of the songs that I really like that shows off my low voice, so I just went for it.
Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What was it like seeing your audition on TV?
A. Willie: It was unreal. It felt like I was watching someone else. It felt like I was just watching TV. I'm watching on Youtube not too long ago and it still doesn't all seem real.
Q. Todd, RealityWanted: You shocked many with that deep, country voice. What was going through your mind when you were on the stage singing?
A. Willie: It was really like an honor because I knew I was going to shock them, but I didn't know they were going to like it that much. I was just in disbelief and I was so happy.
Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What was it like to get such positive feedback from the judges?
A. Willie: It felt good. I just felt like I was on top of the world and I was just so happy they liked it and they accepted it so well.
Q. Todd, RealityWanted: If you were to make it past Boot Camp, what mentor would you like to work with and why them?
A. Willie: Any one of them would be great because they are all veterans in music, so whoever they give me, if I get that far, I'll be happy.
Q. Todd, RealityWanted: You are getting a lot of love out there and people watching your videos and comments on different websites, so what has this whole experience been like for you? What has it meant to you?
A, Willie: It means a lot. There are people out there that work all their lives to get their music out there and views on Youtube and people wanting to do interviews and stuff, so it's an honor that I am starting off so young. All this love and affection, there isn't too much hate out there. There is some hate out there, but it just comes with it. It's just an honor.
Q. Todd, RealityWanted: Anything to say to those fans?
A. Willie: I just want to thank them all and you all are the best. Keep watching and keep supporting. Believe in yourself because you can do all things through Christ. Man, I'm just so happy right now. Follow me on Twitter.
