The Amazing Race 20

by Gina Scarpa

Thanks to a Fast Forward, Dave and Rachel start of this week's of The Amazing Race in first place and teams are headed to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. At the travel agency, Art and JJ announce to everyone that they feel Nary and Jamie aren't the teachers that they claim to be. Nothing gets past those two, does it?

During a layover in Nairobi, Brendon and Rachel get into it with Vanessa and Ralph and Art and JJ in the airport. The agents are sick of being followed while clearly, Vanessa and Rachel feel the need to be unnecessarily catty towards one another a la Ragan and Rachel during BB12. While Rachel dries her tears in the corner, Art and JJ try to find out exactly what Nary and Jamie do but they won't crack.

In Tanzania, teams head to the Arusha Airstrip and take a flight over a volcano, then choose a safari vehicle upon landing and find a Masai warrior. He hands teams a Detour and the choice is between Marksmanship or Courtship. In Marksmanship, teams learn to hunt as the Masai do and use a weapon to break two tiles, and in Courtship, they join in a jumping ritual. I'd just jump for a minute and go on my way.

Brendon and Rachel finish Courtship first, and then Art and JJ finish Marksmanship. From here, teams are headed to a campsite, which proves to be a little difficult to find. When they finally arrive, everyone has to pitch their own tent and build a shower before heading to the pit stop. They'll be camping out under the stars in Tanzania tonight!

Vanessa and Ralph fall to the bottom because she had a hard time with the bikes they had to take to and from the Detour but they aren't the only ones to struggle. Art and JJ majorly lost their lead after getting lost, and Dave and Rachel find a hard time keeping it together while building their campsite.  Thankfully (for them at least), they improve their communication enough to finish and arrive at the pit stop first.  They win a trip to Costa Rica and can you believe it's their fourth time coming in first?  Art and JJ have some competition on their hands.

Mark and Bopper arrive second, followed by Art and JJ, Brendon and Rachel, and Vanessa and Ralph.  Nary and Jamie reach the pit stop last, but it's a non-elimination round.  You didn't really think they'd have to build their own tent and then just leave it there, did you?
