The Top 13 singers took on Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder last night on American Idol in hopes of not being the first singer eliminated and move a step closer to being crowned the next American Idol.

 

They kick off the night with a group performance singing "As" by Stevie Wonder...even in this performance you can see which singers are a notch above the rest of the competition and which ones should be sent home.

 

Time for us to start building a bottom three girls and a bottom three guys. From there, we will have the bottom guy and bottom girl and the judges choose who to keep and who to send home. Girls up first and we start with Elise Testone, Hollie Cavanagh and Jessica Sanchez...I think we know who will be in the bottom three of this group. Jessica and Hollie are safe, so Elise is in the bottom three for the girls (duh, with those girls she had to be).

 

Now for the guys: Heejun Han, Colton Dixon and Jermaine Jones. Colton and Heejun are safe, so that puts Jermaine in the bottom three for the guys...he got his second chance and America didn't agree this time. We take a break from the results to watch a performance from last season's runner-up, Lauren Alaina...she is looking good!

 

Back to the girls: Erika Van Pelt, Shannon Magrane and Skylar Laine. It seems like an obvious choice from these girls as well. Skylar is safe, so Erika and Shannon join Elise in the bottom three girls for tonight...I'm hoping it is Shannon as the bottom girl.

 

Back to the guys: Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips, Jeremy Rosado and DeAndre Brackensick. Phillip and DeAndre are safe, so Joshua and Jeremy join Jermaine in the bottom three ...I'm hoping it is Jermaine as the bottom guy (I like them all, so I had to decide).

 

Ryan makes a quick announcement before a performance from last night's mentor, Mary J. Blige...Joshua and Erika are safe, so now down to Elise and Shannon for the girls and Jeremy and Jermaine for the guys. Mary does her thing...I will always love her, such an amazing woman!

 

Down to the bottom four...Ryan asks Steven who he thinks of them should go home and he said Jeremy...not a good sign for him. Ryan gets to the results: Jermaine is safe and Shannon is safe, so in the bottom we have Elise and Jeremy...I would say Jeremy is going home, especially with Steven saying Jeremy. After the judges' deliberation, Jennifer sadly announces that they will save Elise and it is the end of the road for Jeremy.

 

American Idol airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8/7c on FOX.
