Brittney Schriner from The Bachelor 16

On the first night at the mansion this season on The Bachelor, Brittney made a lasting impression on Ben by bringing her grandmother along to meet him. In fact, her grandmother seemed more taken with him than she was! This week, when he offered Brittney a one on one date, she turned it down and headed home, saying something just didn't feel right. Today, she talked to RealityWanted and reporters in a press conference call about why The Bachelor just wasn't for her.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did you get along with the other girls in the house?
A. Brittney: I got along with everyone pretty well. I stayed as far away from the drama as possible. I formed a few good relationships with some girls in the house. There are some girls that are genuine.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Are there people that you think are better for Ben than others - ones who are perhaps more genuine and real?
A. Brittney: You know, I do. I secretly want the best for everyone, but more importantly, Ben. I think Ben is pretty good at judging character and should be able to rule out the fake versus the real. I think he will make a good choice.

Q. Why didn't you try to go on the one on one date to give it a shot with Ben?
A. Brittney: You know, I thought about that and that's exactly why I was torn. I thought, "If I don't give it a try, I'll never know," but there was something that didn't feel right. I wanted to be up front and honest with Ben. I don't think we were connecting on that level. I could've gone but I didn't wanna take that opportunity away from another woman. I decided to do a very selfless act and make the harder decision.

Q. What was your grandmother's reaction?
A. Brittney: She was surprised, just like everyone else. She really wanted it to work out because she is such a big fan of Ben and the show. She was understanding of my decision.

Q. During this week's episode, when you realized he was asking you on a one on one, you said something didn't feel right and that you were torn and confused. Can you talk a little more about what you were thinking?
A. Brittney: I think it was because my heart wasn't in it. I wasn't as excited as the other girls. I wasn't being as aggressive. It really came down to a make or break for me. If this wasn't a good fit, I needed to go ahead and let him continue on. I did some soul searching and it started after the second rose ceremony. It dawned on me that I just shouldn't be here. It was a hard decision and completely a selfless act. I wanted the best for Ben so I decided that now was a good a time as any. San Francisco is his hometown so the last thing I wanted to do was take away a date in his hometown. I'm glad he had a good time with Lindzi, it looks like they're connecting well.

Q. There was speculation that you felt the odds were that Ben might eliminate you during your one on one date, and so you wanted to dump him first before he dumped you. Is there any truth behind that?
A. Brittney: There is not any truth behind that speculation. I don't mind getting dumped. It's happened before. If I wanted to pursue something and go further with a guy, I think it's worth trying. I just knew that my heart wasn't in it. I didn't wanna waste anybody's time.

Q. Your grandma was so excited and it made me think that maybe from the beginning, you went on the show because she was more excited and she had this idea that it would be fun and that it was less about Ben in the first place.
A. Brittney: Um, so yes. I really did get there and thought Ben is not for me. And I don't think I'm right for Ben. I think it's a two way street. My grandma was extremely excited because she's such a fan of the show. I brought her on to stand out from the crowd and capture his attention. He's close to his family and I'm close to mine as well. It wasn't so much about my grandma, it was just a little addition to the process that I thought would make it more special.
