The Sing Off Season 3

by Todd Betzold

Tonight is the night. After America voted, we find out who will be this season's winner of The Sing Off, but only after two hours of dragging the results out on the live show.

The top three groups start out with a very fun and energetic performance...I love a cappella. We then get to see the groups that took some time off from the show and lend their voices to some causes near and dear to their hearts.

Pentatonix goes to The Trevor Project and helps them do a PSA for their organization. We then get to see them perform "Without You" by David Guetta, which shows why they are in the top three and possible winners...so good.

Urban Method helps out with the Sickle Cell Foundation in Los Angeles before we get to see them perform again, singing "Stereo Hearts" by Gym Class Heroes. It's a good performance and I love their rapping, but I just don't see them winning it all.

The Dartmouth Aires spent some time with Saving Strokes before we see them perform "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" by Meatloaf and are joined by Amy from Delilah. An entertaining number, but they always are ones to never let you down in the entertainment department.

Now time to see the groups do some special performances. First up is Pentatonix singing with host, Nick Lachey. Some weird sexual flirting between Kirstie and Nick...awkward! Urban Method teams up with Sara Bareilles...a fun one! Ben Folds joins the Dartmouth Aires for a sing-along with the audience.

The girls join forces, as they all hit the stage to sing "Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin. Then the boys get together to sing "Born To Run" by Bruce Springsteen. Then, they bring out the big star as Smokey Robinson sings his classic, "You Really Got A Hold On Me," with Afro-Blue...what an amazing opportunity for them.

We get some positive words from the judges for each of the top three before we finally get to some of the results. America voted and the first group going home tonight is Urban Method, which is what I thought it would be...now down to Pentatonix and the Dartmouth Aires.

We get a look back at the journey for Pentatonix and the Dartmouth Aires (drag it out some more NBC) before we find out who the champion is. After almost two hours, Lachey finally announces that Pentatonix is the winner of season three (YAY).

The Sing Off airs a Christmas special next Monday at 8/7c on NBC.
