The new Bravo show is called Most Eligible Dallas, but I'm thinking it should be called Most Obnoxious/Annoying Dallas.
The new series follows a group of young singles in Dallas as they party, date and network. We start out by meeting some of these singles, when we meet Tara and Glenn at a charity event. Glenn works the whole room and claims to have too much testosterone in his body he can't even watch Family Feud without getting turned on.
Working for your family business seems to be the theme of the show too, as Matt, who claims to be the total package, is the managing sales force for his family business; Tara is the Executive Vice President of Sales for their family business and Drew works at the car dealership for his family business. Obnoxious and spoiled rotten...they go hand-in-hand.
Courtney is another one of the singles, which we find out is not something she wants to be. She very much so has a thing for Matt, but claims they are just friends. She says Dallas is such a small city and everyone has dated everyone and her last relationship ended a year ago on New Years Eve during the countdown.
Tara has a passion for animals and helps rescue animals that are about to be euthanized and finds homes for them...one of the positive aspects that did come from this show. She has been engaged four times and absolutely wants to get married, but to the right guy because she doesn't want to get divorced. So, right now she is 100% committed to not being committed.
Courtney, Matt and Glenn meet for brunch and this is where we find out Courtney's long list of demands she needs in the guy she wants to date...and we find out why she is still single (also single for the fact that Matt won't date her). Matt and Glenn on the other hand claim to be focusing on their careers right now and don't want a relationship.
Now we meet Drew, the token gay of the show, who lives in an expensive, prestigious building in uptown Dallas. We find out he used to be 420 pounds and after having three surgeries is down over 200 pounds. He now has discovered HCG, which is a female hormone to help him lose weight and stay in shape. He is obsessed with his weight loss, which could come up later in the season.
Tara and Drew go out for some drinks to only leave the restaurant and run into some Texan guidos...Jersey Shore invades Texas! This was another positive of the episode...Tara calls them Guido Von Douchies...now this makes me laugh.
Then the drama and us getting to see Courtney's love for Matt. He calls to invite her out to the club and she amazingly accepts his offer, but she states she is his go-to girl and that she is the one for him. Well, then Matt proceeds to call like five other girls to go to the club also. In walks the Barbie parade and after some bitter looks, out walks Courtney.
Glenn, who is a punter in the NFL and also a model, heads to a photo shoot. He states he has been this pretty ever since he was a child...obnoxious much?
Matt and Courtney discuss the club the night before over a glass of wine at Matt's place. Courtney complains about all the girls, but Matt claims he is single, so it is allowed. He fell in love with a girl before, they got engaged and then she walked away. It was the first time in his life he didn't get what he wanted.
Then the real drama comes out, as everyone meets for dinner and drinks...it is their chance to all be together with their busy lives. Well, Matt brings a blonde, female friend, Neill...which sets Courtney off. Mind you, most of the other people there have a date or friend with them...but oh no, her beloved Matt is not allowed to bring anyone.
Neill is a 23-year-old single mother who just moved back to Dallas and is an old friend of Matt. Courtney proceeds to ream her for being out on a Wednesday night and not home with her child. This all stems from the fact that Courtney wants a husband and a family and she can't stand to see someone with a child be around Matt.
Tara and Courtney head into the bathroom to discuss the situation, where Courtney lets the tears start flowing. She is a proper Southern girl and wants to do it the right way...engagement, dress, wedding, kids. From just viewing one episode, I highly doubt she is a proper Southern girl.
