On The Glee Project, being cast on the hit FOX show is about more than singing, acting, and dance ability. It's about how you present yourself - after all, Glee creator Ryan Murphy will write a role for the winning contestant. This week, Ellis's negativity rubbed some the wrong way and even her jazzy, last chance performance couldn't save her. Today, we talked to her in an exclusive interview about her time on The Glee Project.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How long have you been singing and performing?
A. Ellis: Actually, I played the piano since I was 7 but I didn't start singing until middle school and high school. I had a local school talent show and I wrote a song about a knight in shinging armor coming to sweep me away. It was absolute crap but someone said, "Since when can you sing?" and I was like, "I don't know!"

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you decide to try out for The Glee Project?
A. Ellis: It was really on a whim. I came home from winter break for school. My dad had left a snippet about the show from a local paper. I was like, "Why would I audition for this?" He said, "Because he wants kids who look like they're in high school," and I was like, "I'm in!" It was the first big audition I've ever been to. It was really awesome.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: In the first episode, you pointed out how young you looked and said you were "Most Likely To Be A Kid Forever". Looking back on it, do you wish you had taken another approach to sell yourself to the people at Glee?
A. Ellis: I think they would've come up for the kid forever thing for the "Firework" video. I don't think that's anything I should hide. I'm proud of who I am as a person. If it has had any negative results, then that's just how it is.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: This week, you had your first kiss and it was on screen! How nervous were you?
A. Ellis: Oh, super nervous! They called this guy up and said I was going to push him off the stage and I was like, "That's really cool!" Then they said, "You're going to kiss this guy," and I was like, "Okay..." I was just worried about doing it wrong. His name was Zack and he was such a sweetheart.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Were you happy with the song choice of "Mac the Knife" for your last chance performance?
A. Ellis: Oh my god, I was so happy. I felt like, with that song, I could really give it my all. I was just really so much more in a comfortable shell.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You were criticized for being negative on the show. When you tried to turn your attitude around, though, the mentors and Ryan Murphy said they weren't sure if they believed you. Watching the episode, did it seem like you couldn't win at that point?
A. Ellis: I honestly think they had chosen me to leave before I went out and did that performance. There was no way "Mac The Knife" was going to save me. Idina singled me out in the homework assignment but I just felt it. This competition is really hard. Everyone puts everything out there. The mentors have to find the littlest thing. The kids and I were having issues and they needed someone to go. I was in the right place at the right time.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Which mentor did you feel helped you the most?
A. Ellis: Robert is such a sweetheart. He gave us this chance and he's so encouraging. When you get eliminated he's like, "This isn't the end of the world." Zach is my favorite person in the entire world. Dancing is my most uncomfortable moment and he makes me feel like I can do it. He's so funny and so great.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Is there anyone that you're rooting for in the competition?
A. Ellis: Uhhh... it's hard to say.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Are you still going to pursue a singing/acting career?
A. Ellis: Yeah, of course. I love performing. I'm a ham. I wanna be in the spotlight. I want to maybe go to New York or Los Angeles.
