What I've learned from three episodes of Million Dollar Decorators: things don't always go as planned and these designers have major egos.

 

We start with Kathryn, who was hired by the Factor family, to help organize their lavish house. Shannon, the owner, has bought an overabundance of furniture/art/décor for the house and has it stored all over the house, garage and in a storage unit. She hires Kathryn to arrange all of that stuff in the house and make it look fabulous.

 

Kathryn accepts the job knowing Shannon is in the process of buying a beach house and wants to get her hands on decorating that for her.

 

Meanwhile, Martyn gets a call from Joe Francis, of Girls Gone Wild fame, who wants him to come down to his $30 million estate in Mexico and help him train his new staff. Joe has a wedding coming up in a few weeks and wants the estate to be in tip-top shape.

 

We meet Jeffrey and Ross as they head to the gym for their before-work workout, which is a block from their office. The owner of the gym has asked Jeffrey to re-do the shower on only a $20,000 budget. Jeffrey accepts because he wants a shower at his gym he can use and then walk right to work afterwards. He is given five days to get it done and since a smaller job, he puts Dimitra 2, his assistant, as the project manager.

 

Mary is in the process of publishing her first book and meets with her book agent to discuss things. The agent wants a picture of Mary on the cover, which Mary is not too thrilled about, however, she suggests an artist friend of hers who does cartoon-like pictures they could use for the book and the agent agrees.

 

Martyn arrives in Puerto Vallarta and has dinner with Joe and some of his friends to discuss the plan for Martyn during his time there. Training of the staff is key.

 

Kathryn arrives to the Factor house over and hour and a half late, to find the yard and driveway filled with stuff from the storage units. She states, "There is a thin line between hoarding and collecting and I think Shannon has crossed it." As they go through everything, there is a struggle between the two of them as what to use and not to use.

 

Meanwhile, Joe gets all the staff together and introduces Martyn to them and then gives Martyn a tour of house and what needs to be done, which turns into Joe getting very upset and getting close to firing members of the staff.

 

Mary meets with her artist friend, Konstantine, about the picture and he agrees to do it during a very quick meeting between the two of them.

 

Kathryn continues to struggle with Shannon on where to place certain items, but after five hours of working and placing, the house gobbled up all the different items and Kathryn was able to get it to the liking of Shannon, who then asked her to come look at the beach house for her. I see lots of drama if she were to get the beach house job and Shannon being very hands-on with the designing process, which Kathryn states she is hoping is not the case.

 

Jeffrey and Ross come and check out the shower, only to see that Dimitra 2 is way behind schedule. They are being big divas about it all and you can clearly see they do not like to give up control over any project. Dimitra 2 is struggling, as no shower head, drain or shower bars have arrived. The queen Jeffrey wants a certain drain, because he is treating this as his own shower, and is being very picky about things.

 

Martyn goes around and works with the new staff and does some training on how things should be done properly. After finding many things he was not happy with in the estate, he gives them lists of things that need to be done. The next day he goes to check their work and is very happy with what he sees. He than rewards himself with a massage.

 

Mary meets with Konstantine as he draws the picture and she is very controlling of the situation and wants him to draw it a certain way. He wants nothing to do with that and says he will draw it as he sees fit.

 

It arrives at her office later and she calls up Nathan, so he can make his appearance in this episode, and asks him to come look at it because she is too nervous. He arrives and they check it out and they are in love with it.

 

Jeffrey and Ross come in to accessorize the finished shower, which worked out beautifully and in time. The owner comes in and loves it. Jeffrey is able to christen the shower as the episode ends.
