The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection

by Allie Giffes

On this episode of The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection, the designers travel to New Jersey to meet up with Iman for their next challenge. When they arrive to the terminal, they find themselves equipped with suitcases to gather as many clothes from the station's lost & found as they can. They must build their collections from the clothes that they collect. However, the designers must choose at their own risk! In one suitcase for Emerald, there is a piece of blue fabric representing Nami - and for the other team's suitcase, a piece of green fabric representing Emerald. The designers who grab the suitcases with the alternative fabric must switch houses. David gets the green swatch, and Jeffrey gets the blue swatch. The catch of this challenge? Each house will be responsible for one extra look. This is going to be tough!

The houses immediately get to working on their design concepts. This time, Laura Brown of Harper's Bazaar will be critiquing (or more appropriately, "editing") their ideas. Emerald works on their beach inspired look while Nami strives to recreate the story of a chic girl going on a weekend get-away to the city.

Meanwhile, Dominique and David are a completely different story. Now that they're separated, their housemates' only concern is that they stay focused despite the mutual feelings they share. It also seems as though Cesar's ego is finally starting to get the best of him. His (what we thought was selfless) guidance he's been so willingly offering to his fellow designers makes him feel as though he "should be getting paid for the teaching he's doing." And as David notes, he naturally has more control over the house's design since he works so fast - the designers find themselves trying to match HIS work in order to create a cohesive look. Calvin finishes early an decides to walk around and give his unwanted opinions on everyone else's designs, and David decides to give us his obvious opinions of Dominique. Seems like things are definitely starting to heat up!

Nami is first to hit the runway this week, and their design is "chic" - but a "weekend get-away?" Not so sure about that. Eduardo takes the risk of straying away from his typical cocktail dress design and goes for creating a more casual look - and it looks awesome! Emerald's designs, however, have Iman cringing in the audience. So far, Cesar hasn't made a design that I haven't liked, but this may just be the one that does it for me.

Joining the panel this week is Chris Benz, "the prince of color." The judges come down hard on both houses. Iman tells all of them that they are not ready for the runway and that they "had to pick a winner, even though they didn't want to." Though it "pains her to say it," the House of Nami wins this challenge. Dominique has the overall best design and "wins the challenge that everyone else failed." Iman lets them know that they should be kissing her feet. As the winner of this challenge, she also must tell them which designer she thinks should go home - without hesitation, she answers "Calvin."

Though the judges liked Cesar's design, they weren't fond of his extra looks. The judges put Cindy on the spot and ask her who she thought had the weakest look in the house, to which she replies "that's not my job, that's your job." The judges also scrutinize Calvin for his lack of teamwork. It all comes down to David and Cesar - and David is out of fashion. Phew, that was close! Luckily, Dominique has immunity next week so she has some time to adjust to the competition without David.
