Survivor: Nicaragua

Tonight, on Survivor: Nicaragua, the players get tree mail in the form of a Sprint cell phone video message. If they win today's reward challenge, they'll get to talk to their families and everyone knows how much the players always miss their loved ones back home. Each person is brought to tears by the little snippet they're allowed to watch beforehand. Afterwards, Chase and Fabio run off into the woods and promise to take one another if they win. However, we all remember what happened the last time Chase promised to bring someone on a reward...

Side note: For Christmas, I want someone to make a montage video of Probst yelling, "Come on in, guys!" as he has been doing before every challenge for 10 years. Can't some video wizard make this happen for me?

The prize for the reward challenge is bigger than they ever imagined. They'll get a boat ride down the coast of Nicaragua, a filling meal, and some time with a family member! These reunions always get me a little misty.

I LOVE that the family members have to participate in the challenge too in order to win! Survivors will race out to retrieve puzzle pieces from a pool of water while the loved ones must use the letters inside the bag to form the phrase "family comes first". Fabio, Chase, and Sash are the first back with their bags. Though Holly's husband comes close, it's Chase's mother who finishes first and they win the reward! When Chase is asked to pick someone to go with him, he chooses Sash. He gets one more choice and goes back on his word to Fabio, taking Holly instead.

Fabio doesn't take it well, understandably. Not only did Chase go back on his word but Fabio and his mom live in different states and don't get to see each other often.

It seems that Sash, Chase, and Holly have a solid plan to go to final 3 together. We'll see how that plays out over the final days in the game - starting with this next immunity challenge. In this challenge, the players are blindfolded and must navigate their way through an obstacle course to a shield with several symbols. Using only their sense of touch, they must recreate the symbols on a shield across the playing field.

Earlier in this episode, Fabio had said that people underestimated him and thought he was dumber than he really was. Well, no kidding! Fabio wins immunity! Boy, that's going to throw a wrench in everyone's plans because last time I checked, Dan isn't going anywhere quite yet. Some people better grab their immunity idols and keep them close...

Back at camp, Jane boldly asks if she's the one to go and Chase, Holly, and Sash deliver the bad news. Jane is unbeatable if she makes it to the end. While true, it hurts Jane and who can blame her for being so upset?

Upon arriving at tribal council, Jane admits that she threw water on the fire before heading here. She's pissed... she's really pissed. Probst wonders why Holly didn't team up with Fabio and Dan to make a move in this game. Tonight is the last night for Chase and Sash to use immunity idols and right before the votes are read, it seems semi-possible that everyone is not totally set on voting Jane out.

The boys play their idols and when the votes are read, the plan sticks and Jane it voted out.  Much as I understand the decision, it still sucks.
