Survivor: Nicaragua

by Gina Scarpa

One week from tonight, Survivor will return on a brand new night with a brand new season, set in Nicaragua, a land of volcanoes, dangerous wildlife, and tough terrain. The tribes will be divided be age, the old vs. the young, and of course, both feel they have the advantage. The young are confident they have the physical prowess to dominate but the old feel they have things locked down due to their maturity and wisdom. Oh yeah, and they're certain they can still physically compete as well!

Among the twenty contestants are doctors, goat ranchers, real estate brokers, club promoters, and students, not to mention one very famous NFL coach.

Espada Tribe
Jill Behm, 43, is an ER doctor from Erie, PA.
Jane Bright, 56, is a dog trainer from Jackson Springs, NC.
Tyron Davis, 42, is a fire captain from Inglewood, CA.
Wendy DeSmidt-Kohloff, 48, is a goat rancher from Fromberg, MT.
Holly Hoffman, 44, is a swim coach from Eureka, SD.
Jimmy Johnson, 67, is a retired NFL coach, from Islamorada, FL.
Dan Lembo, 63, is a real estate exec from Watermill, NY.
Marty Piombo, 48, is a technology exec from Mill Valley, CA.
Yve Rojas, 41, is a homemaker from Kansas City, MO.
James "Jimmy T" Tarantino, 48, is a fisherman from Gloucestor, MA.

La Flor Tribe
Jud Birza, 21, is a student from Venice, CA.
Kelly Bruno, 26, is a medical student from Durham, NC.
Shannon Elkins, 30, is a pest control company owner from Lafayette, LA.
Ben "Benry" Henry, 24, is a club promoter from Los Angeles, CA.
Matthew "Sash" Lenahan, 30, is a real estate broker, from New York, NY.
Brenda Lowe, 27, is a paddleboard company owner from Miami, FL.
NaOnka Mixon, 27, is a phys ed teacher from Los Angeles, CA.
Chase Rice, 24, is a pro race car jackman from Fairview, NC.
Kelly Shinn, 20, is a nursing student from Mesa, AZ.
Alina Wilson, 23, is an art student from Downey, CA.

Dividing up the tribes by age isn't the only twist in store for these contestants. In the season premiere, they learn that there's a Medallion of Power up for grabs, which will give one tribe an advantage in an immunity challenge. However, once a tribe uses it, it goes over to the other tribe who can use it at a time when they need it most!

For those who just can't make it to next Wednesday, TV Guide Network will air a special preview of the new season of Survivor on Sunday, September 12th, at 8/7c. Emmy winning host Jeff Probst and several of the Survivor: Nicaragua crew members will give viewers some inside information, a tour of the new Tribal Council area, and a look at two of this season's challenges. The special is hosted by three time Survivor player Parvati Shallow.
