Hell's Kitchen Season 7

by Gina Scarpa

In the second hour of Hell's Kitchen tonight, the guys continue to target Autumn as the worst chef, even though Chef Ramsay feels differently and continuously saves her from elimination. The chefs meet up with Ramsay at a local market and are asked to buy the best ingredients they can to make one great dish... using ten dollars. I think I need them to shop with me because my grocery bill is always way too high!

Ramsay brings in three experts to help him judge the competition: Joaquim Splichal, Dana Bowen, and Vern Lakusta. The dishes all look amazing and it would be really cool if these recipes were put on Hell's Kitchen's website. The experts taste the dishes, and then reveal how much they feel they would pay for each one in a restaurant. With a price of $29.66, Holli is the winner, with Jay and Autumn right behind her.

For her prize, Holli is sent to a private poolside cabana at a posh hotel in Beverly Hills for a little R&R with Jean-Philippe... weird, but okay. She's also given $1000 to use to shop at a kitchen supply store. Holli is able to bring someone along today which seems like it would make things less weird but they're having a little showmance so JP suddenly becomes the third wheel by default. Awkward.

In order to force more communication in the kitchen during dinner service, Chef Ramsay is going to have the chefs switch stations every few minutes. They'll be rotating like a volleyball team all night long. Things get off to a bad start with raw meat, prepared by Holli, but Jason had to take the fall for it. With Holli's winning tuna dish on the menu, things are further thrown for a loop and Ben screws up his first attempt at it.

I'm not quite sure how switching stations repeatedly encourages and promotes good communication.  In fact, it seems like Chef Ramsay's plan is backfiring a bit.  After a while, Autumn and Holli get it together - and Ben takes notice.  Wanting to jump on the success train, Ben starts working on Holli's station without her permission and immediately screws up.  When Chef Ramsay steps out of the kitchen, his sous chef Scott was told to take over.  Ben also decides that he'll step in there as well but Scott doesn't take too kindly to having his toes stepped on.  In fact, he reacts by screaming in his face so loudly that I wouldn't be surprised if Ben peed his pants a little bit.

After a so-so dinner service, Ben and Jason are nominated for elimination.  Jason promises that he's able to lead a group of people and run a restaurant.  Ben admits that he overthinks things and needs to just cook.  After hearing them out, Chef Ramsay decides that Jason will be leaving Hell's Kitchen.
