Big Brother Season 12

by Gina Scarpa

Tonight, it's time for a new group of housemates to move into the Big Brother house, where their every move will be captured on camera. Julie Chen reveals that one contestant will not be playing to win and instead, will be known as the Big Brother Saboteur. Each player receives their key back in their respective hometowns and, of course, freak out with excitement. They're all young, attractive people... looks like CBS is hopin' for some hookups!

The contestants are brought into the house in groups of four and five, which means that the first people in claim the best bedrooms. After throwing bags on beds, they sit down together over a bottle of champagne to get to know one another. It seems like most of them are secretly rating each other's level of attractiveness instead of listening to one another. It's only been a few minutes shady moves have already been made. Instead of telling people that he's a doctor, Andrew says that he's been out of job for a year and works retail and Ragan says he's a grad student instead of a professor. Keeping up a lie that you tell on Day 1 can be tough so remember that, boys.

Chenbot gathers everyone in the living room to reveal that a saboteur is living amongst them. That should create paranoia that'll run rampant for the next 10 weeks. If the saboteur makes it 5 weeks in the house, they win $50,000. If that person is evicted before then, they get nothing. An overdramatic video of a silhouette with a scrambled voice is shown where the person asks, "Can anyone be trusted?" Nope.

It's time for the first HOH competition and the winner will be able to pick the first two nominees for eviction. That's definitely power but can also put a target on your back. One person was able to sit out and be the "mascot" (which involved donning a hot dog costume). Andrew couldn't volunteer fast enough which, of course, raises suspicion. He can't be HOH... however, he's safe from the first eviction!

The challenge is an interesting one. The housemates competed in teams of two and players had to grab onto a hot dog and be sent across a platform on a pulley. The first person on the winning team to cross the finish line wins $10,000. The money goes down from there until the 5th person, who leaves with $1. The last person on the winning team to cross wins HOH. Money or power?

Hayden did not want to win HOH but he realized that his team was not going to make it across without his help, meaning he would have to go last. With condiments being sprayed onto the hot dog, things became very slippery so the girls on Hayden's red team were hoisted up to grab the top and ride that hot dog all the way to the finish line. Unfortunately, Britney keeps falling over and over, even injuring herself. Is she hurt... or sabotaging the red team from winning?

Kathy, who was on the opposing team, runs over to check on her and the game is stopped. The medical staff steps in to see what's going on and Britney is taken out of the competition. The pause in the game gives Matt and Hayden the chance to form a quick alliance. Things start up again after the yellow team is given the power to choose Kristen to come back from the platform and replace

Britney. Kristen picks right up where the red team left off. They sail across the platform back and forth all way to victory. Hayden is the first HOH!

Figured out who the Big Brother Saboteur is yet?  They struck early, taking out all the lights in the house.  Brendon thinks it's time for bed (seriously) and heads out to brush his teeth while Andrew takes the opportunity to try to scare everyone by slamming doors.  When the lights come on, a video of the saboteur is shown, where they reveal that that they've locked the storage room door and no one will be able to get to the food.  There's plenty of slop in the kitchen, though.

Oh I'm sorry, did you think that Big Brother was going to tell you who the saboteur is?   You should know better, kiddies.  Looks like we're all going to have to wait...

Be sure to tune in to Big Brother to find out who Hayden nominates, Sunday night at 8/7c on CBS.
