Hell's Kitchen Season 7

by Gina Scarpa

The second hour of Hell's Kitchen begins with Salvatore, who threatened to leave the show because Chef Ramsay was too tough on him. Ramsay takes him aside to tell him that he hasn't given up on him and he wants to see him get that fight back. Salvatore has agreed to stay and hopefully, can toughen up and stick it out.

The teams roll a dice with letters on it for their challenge. As the dice lands on each letter, they'll have to name an ingredient that begins with that letter and then incorporate them all into one dish. The blue team chooses halibut, endive, salsify, crab, peas, and bacon while the red team goes with beets, shallots, mangos, ham, turnips, and duck. What the hell, ladies?! Somehow, the women turn out a dish that works for Chef Ramsay. How, I have no idea, but they did. The men win by a fraction and only because the duck fat they used was raw. Had it been cooked perfectly, they would've won. I'm still sitting here trying to figure out how duck fat, mangoes, and turnips go together. Anyone? ....

The men win a skydriving trip with Chef Ramsay for their prize but Jason views it more like a punishment, since he has no desire to jump out of a plane. Lucky for him, they're not really jumping out of planes. They went to a simulation instead - which is the only kind of skydiving I'd do. I feel you, Jason. The women will have to clean the entry hall and prep both kitchens as punishment. Not as bad as picking up garbage on the side of the road.

Unfortunately, the women do not have enough time to finish the prep work, which sends Maria into a total meltdown. She gets it together in time for dinner service and tonight's guests feature a slew of celebrities from models to tv hosts to actors, including Entourage star Debbie Mazar and her husband, who just happens to be a chef. No pressure.

During dinner, Nilka kills it on the meat station, turning out dish after dish. She really stepped up and showed what a leader she could be. The same can't be said for Autumn, who seems like a zombie, and drops food on the table before just slapping it back on the plate. For that, you can be she got reamed out. Speaking of people getting reamed out, Scott got his butt handed to him for repeatedly serving raw meat. I'm trying to understand how this can be possible but maybe he was just having an off night. In the end, both teams end up serving their diners but there is no winner.

Nilka and Salvatore are singled out for doing the best job (so I guess Sal isn't walkin' out after all) and are asked by Ramsay to nominate one person each for elimination. Not surprisingly, those two people are Autumn and Scott. Ramsay rips into Autumn, calling her soulless while telling Scott that he's not as good as he thinks he is. He asks them both to take their jackets off.... and switch teams. They've been given one more chance.
