Celebrity Apprentice 3

by David McAlpine

Last time on the Celebrity Apprentice, the teams were switched up, combining the men and the women. Each team had to create and execute their own fitness class for 24-Hour Fitness, resulting in several sexual double entendres, perhaps too many for network television. In the end, both of the teams did a stellar job in the executives' and Trump's eyes, so no one was fired.

Last night, however, Trump made it abundantly clear that someone is getting fired, possibly even two people! Would that then be cause for another two-hour episode where no one gets fired? I guess all we can do is wait and see, because it's well established that The Donald pretty much down whatever the hell he wants.

This week's task: create a radio commercial for each of three brands for a home service company. Basically, they have to make electrical work, heating and a plumbing sound interesting. Now, they more than accomplished that task last week with their fitness routines, but with Bret and Summer at the helm for their respective teams, I'm not sure how that's going to go.

On Tenacity, Holly and Cyndi are still at each others throats, with Holly taking every swing she can at Cyndi. She's blatantly trying to control Summer, who kind of isn't having it. Instead, Summer has to deal with the executives who flat out tell her humor is not their thing. Holly then decides to reiterate everything the executives said as if her were her own idea--brilliant!

Just when I thought Summer might be taking the high road, though, she starts talking down to Cyndi. Way down. Even worse than Holly, I think. At least Holly treats Cyndi like an adult she can't stand; Summer treats her like a child! Cue Curtis who has it right on: they're all a bunch of bitches.

Bret, on the other hand, is fighting another fight: how to fit humor into the plumber commercial even though the executives told him not to. His solution? Put a little bit of plumber crack into the commercial. Really? Are we going this route? Sharon and Maria are totally against it, but he decides to put it in at his risk, anyway.

At least Summer gives Cyndi the jingle to write, which is right up her alley, while Summer starts writing the body of the commercial. Cyndi disagrees with it, but we all know her voice isn't going to get heard past the jingle. Even when Curtis agrees with her, Holly and Summer shut them down because they don't think the execs will like anything spicier than bland.

Even though Tenacity's jingle is way better than Rock Solid, Cyndi can't sing it because she says her voice is shot. Summer is thrown into a panic, not knowing what to do (even though Holly is an easy backup). Meanwhile Bret is making the heating and cooling commercial groovalicious with some 70's freak'em music.

Back to Cyndi, who decides she can sing, but once she wants to sing, Holly starts to question how mainstream Cyndi is. Question, Holly: since when were you ever mainstream? I can't believe I'm starting to take Cyndi's side, but the woman has some sense in her, at least.

In the presentations, the execs were sad that Bret put in the plumber's crack, but they thought Tenacity was boring and dull. Even though they said to keep it simple, the creativity won out and Bret walked away with the win for Rock Solid, leaving Summer to take two people into the boardroom.

As predicted, Cyndi gets thrown under the bus, but she comes out swinging. Holly defends Summer and, in turn, Summer gives Holly the pass, taking Curtis and Cyndi into the boardroom with her. Girl got played, that's for sure, so props to Holly for facilitating that. Since Curtis and Cyndi did a majority of the work the execs liked, it was a no brainer for Trump and Summer was sent home.
