Project Runway Season 7

Last night, on Project Runway, three months have passed since Heidi sent the final four designers back to their hometowns to work on their collections. Emilio and Seth Aaron are already guaranteed a spot at New York Fashion Week but the same cannot be said for Jay and Mila. They'll each present three pieces from their collections to the judges and only one of them will make it to the finale. The pressure is on for all four designers!

Tim Gunn makes his first stop in Vancouver, WA this week to check in on Seth Aaron. The man is on a roll! He's already completed 15 looks and plans on bringing a total of 20 pieces to New York and then editing from there. Tim tells him that everyone will love what he did but what he has so far won't win him the competition. He wants him to completely re-conceptualize what he's doing which would make anyone pee their pants a little bit!

Tim's next stop is in a familiar place, New York City, to pay a visit to Emilio. He shows Tim his collection, which is most definitely inspired by color. He has red, turquoise, and loud patterns, which Tim isn't loving. In fact, the two get a little heated about it but Tim tells him to do whatever he wants to do - which he will. Emilio says, later in his interview, that he doesn't plan on listening to anything Tim says.

Cash in those frequent flyer miles! Tim's in Los Angeles now with Mila to see how things are going for her. She doesn't put a lot of color into her looks but it makes sense, since she said that she's been inspired by shadows for her collection. Tim calls some of her outfits matronly. Ooh, that word equals death!

It's a hop, skip, and a jump over to San Francisco for Tim's last stop to visit Jay. He throws words of death at Jay, too: student work. Though Tim likes a lot of what Jay has done, he feels like some of it is gimmicky and goes a bit too far.

The final four designers arrive at the Westin Hotel in New York, where Mila and Jay will find out which of them will be able to travel just a few short blocks to Bryant Park for Fashion Week. The following morning, Mila and Jay find out that the judges will be deciding today who stays and who goes! Oh, they were definitely NOT expecting that.

There is no guest judge for this runway show, which is great because this decision should definitely be made by people who have seen their work from start to finish this season. Mila's clothes are well crafted but there's no excitement, no color, and nothing necessarily fresh or new about them. I much prefer what Jay has done for his three looks. They're more interesting visually and he has some deep, dark colors to go with the black that he used for his outfits. I'm a fan.

The judges want to see Mila push a little more towards a modern look. Nina feels that she has a very narrow point of view. Michael compliments her on her craftsmanship and she definitely deserves it. Heidi thinks that Jay pumped up the volume and Michael recognizes all the work that went into what he's done.

After deliberating, the judges decide that Mila is more ready to show at Fashion Week. I disagree but what do I know?

Don't miss the Project Runway finale, next Thursday at 10/9c on Lifetime.
