Courtney Yates from Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains

Last night, on Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains, the villains lost both the reward and immunity challenges and were headed to tribal council. JT slipped Russell his hidden immunity idol, under the mistaken assumption that there was an all female alliance and he was next on the chopping block. In reality, it was Sandra or Courtney who were headed home, for being outside of the main villain alliance between Russell, Parvati, and Danielle. At tribal, it was Courtney who was voted out of the game and became the second member of the jury. Today, she spoke to RealityWanted in an exclusive interview and, just as you might expect, she didn't hold back when it came to her opinions on Russell, Jeff Probst, and her experiences playing Survivor for a second time.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Did you view yourself as a villain before this season?
A. Courtney: I really didn't. I viewed myself as a Survivor sidekick. I didn't give myself as much credit. Calling me a villain is having some balls. I wouldn't never call myself a top villain of anything. That's a big compliment.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Did your alliance with Sandra form out of strategy, or because neither or you had anywhere to go?
A. Courtney: That was an organic thing. We gravitated towards each other. We have the same sense of humor and same style of gameplay. I watched her play on Survivor: Pearl Islands and that's the only season I watched. I was excited to see her. I was glad that we palled around so much. We were solid and it was good.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: There's been a lot of talk about contestants who either knew each other previously, or played the game together previously, and whether or not that makes them a target. What was your opinion of it?
A. Courtney: I really stayed out of it. I tried to not talk to anyone. I'm not into that. You see what's in front of you and you deal with what you have. It only really hurts you to have pre-existing whatevers. I wanted to go in blank and see what everyone else was doing.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Where are you on the debate about Russell? Was it an advantage or disadvantage that no one saw him play the game before? If they had, would he still be around right now?
A. Courtney: I mean, it's a really interesting topic and you can argue both sides of that to death. It is what it is. They picked him to come back and he was there. Everyone knew that he was the rogue player in the group but look at how things stacked up. He was one of our bigger guys. We were sort of screwed and we couldn't vote him off just because we don't know what he's doing. Maybe we underestimated him right away. I didn't know he was the seal clubbing, orphan kicking, sock burning thief that he is.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Did you start to worry about your fate in the game after Tyson idiotically voted himself out?
A. Courtney: Yeah, that was pretty much the beginning of the end. You had me, Rob, and Sandra and we were tight. I was tight with Tyson and Rob was tight with Tyson. Tyson brought Coach who brought Jerri. We had this six person group and we were together. It was really genius of the other three to target Tyson because it went into the nucleus and broke it apart. There was no getting back.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: In the Russell/Parvati/Danielle alliance, who's running the show right now - Parvati or Russell?
A. Courtney: Parvati has her own side thing going on but she's underneath Russell. He has Jerri. Jerri doesn't like Parvati and Danielle. He's at the top of the food chain.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: It's been fun watching you and Jeff Probst go back and forth during tribal council this season. Do you enjoy giving it back to him as much as he dishes it out?
A. Courtney: I guess I do. Jeff and I have always had a funny thing. It gets annoying when he gets in on his thing and his own version of events, like when he said I voted out Boston Rob. I'm like, "Are you watching the same show, you idiot?" Oh Jeffrey, you can't have it both ways. You can't lick Rob's nuts and Russell's nuts.
