Sober House with Dr. Drew

by Jackie Helm

This week on Sober House 2, the fire continued to burn.  House manager Jenn couldn't get a break if she paid for it.  She asked the curfew breakers to read the essay she had them write for being late.  Tom Sizemore and Jenni Ketchum's essay showed concern for sobriety while Dennis Rodman wrote nothing but the word "why".  Mike Starr's essay described himself as every curse word in the book.  I'm not sure this form of punishment was effective.

Heidi Fleiss got a break from the house as she had to return home to Nevada to tend to legal issues.  She admitted to being worried about getting high as she still has a craving for Crystal Meth.

The rest of the house received free time outside of the house as Jenn stated that boredom isn't good for those in recovery. Mike woke from a nap and flipped out when he found no one at home.  It appeared to be an act of rebellion as he caught a cab and went on a personal mission for some "Thai food".  When his sister refused to help him cop some drugs, he cursed her and claimed he'd never talk to her again.

Upon return to the Sober House, the houseguests had to be tested for drug use.  Mike appeared suspicious and refused to drop.  Heidi's gig was up when she gave up the urine. She tested positive for opiates, amphetamines, and benzodiazepine.  Heidi appeared a little embarrassed but more so non-chalant.  In fact, her words were, "It is what it is."  Eventually Mike stopped being an a$$ and gave up the pee.  Surprisingly to us all, he tested negative.

Jenn proposed a movie night with a film featuring Tom Sizemore.  As usual, Heidi had to start her evil engine and refuse to watch any of Tom's movies.  Tom tried to shake her off but wound up threatening to leave the Sober House again.  Luckily Jenn calmed Tom down and convinced him to stay.

But it wasn't that easy.  Tom was still irritated and took it out on Mike Starr.  He began by suggesting that Mike stop telling everyone to get fu#$%d.  He went on to share his own story of being a poor boy from Detroit who made it to super stardom and doesn't have a penny to show for it.  In so many words Tom told Mike to suck it up and stop playing addict victim who won't strive for sobriety.

Meanwhile, Heidi couldn't resist grinding Tom's gears further.  She oddly placed a plate of sushi in front of Tom and called him a weirdo.  Mike was still pretty chill but must of said "dope sick" to Tom.  Suddenly Tom jumped up and was screamed at Mike to say "dope sick" again.  Mike said it again.  Tom continued berating Mike and challenging him to a fight.  Mike stayed in his chair and Tom finally sat back down.  Tom remarked that only a punk would sit there rather than stand up in a fight; even if it meant a beat down.

At that point Mike was triggered and he jumped up and bucked up to Tom.  Finally, staff stepped to break it up and that was our cliff hanger until next week!  Why doesn't anyone tell Heidi to cool out?
