Project Runway Season 6

"Hey, That's My Fabric" or "Hey, I Wanna Do This Challenge!!!"

Well, it's been a couple weeks since my last blog. I've done a little traveling, for business, and have been hard at work building new accessories and apparel collections...so cut me some slack, ok?

We've lost Ben and Amy in the past couple weeks. Those two were some of my early favorites so I was sad to see them go. *Sigh*

So, this week...only 7 designers left. They get to design their own prints for the base of their runway look!!! SO JEALOUS!!! I'm working on that same thing right now and it is not easy. I wonder how many yards they got to request.

In addition to their own fabric the designers have $100 and 20 minutes to shop at Mood to get notions and supplemental fabrics...Thanks Mood!

I LOVE that no one can read Emilio's print...it does look like it says "ES loves SA".

Sew, sew, sew.

Let's start the show...

(The following statements are made as the models are coming down the runway. This is before seeing the top 3, bottom 3 and listening to the judge's thoughts.)

Seth Aaron
Print:
Pop Art face/Graffiti print
Garment: Graphic Blazer, shirt, tie, pant. This is a very SA look with a very SA print. The only thing I don't care for is the striping on the pants...or maybe it's the fit of the pants...either way: there's a pants problem.

Jonathan
Print: Subtle organic print in airy tones
Garment: Graphic, grey cocktail dress with tan jacket with gold ruffle collar. This is BY FAR my favorite print and favorite dress. The bizarre jacket was unnecessary, in my opinion.

Maya
Print: Red, orange, black linear print.
Garment: Short dress with ruffle collar and textured front. Eh. Great print but this silhouette is a little too over-done for her.

Emilio
Print: Blue, black and white graffiti print
Garment: Black jacket and graphic dress. The jacket is, probably the best thing he's made on this season. Too bad the graphic dress, the basis of this challenge, does not match the elegance of the jacket.

Mila
Print: Vivid, colorful striping
Garment: White dress with graphic panel and black bolero jacket. This has to be one of the worst-looking pieces that has ever come down the runway. I think the deprivation is finally getting to Miss Mila.

Anthony
Print: Geometric print with black, purple and yellow
Garment: Short, black dress with graphic insets. This is a great dress design to coordinate with the print. Cute...not terrible...not amazing.

Jay Nicholas
Print:
Green and black organic striping
Garment: Graphic accented black jacket, top, graphic bodice, and pants. Cool look head to toe. I like all of the, unexpected, details on the jacket.

My top designers: Jay Nicholas (for the win), Jonathan and Seth Aaron
My bottom designers: Mila (for the Auf) and Emilio

Jay is the only one who is safe... goes to show you that I still haven't figured this thing out.

Mila, Anthony, and Jonathan get the lowest scores...

Judges liked Emilio (for some reason), Seth Aaron (of course) and Maya.

It was so upsetting to watch the judges critiquing Jonathan's look. I really felt like I was back on that stage defending my own work.

Emilio gets the win (HUH?!?) and Anthony goes home. Normally I would not want Brown Sugar to go but I'd rather him go than Jonathan.

So what's the lesson this week? Even after going through the whole experience I still don't know what the judges are looking for... Maybe someday I'll figure it out.
