Last time on The Biggest Loser, way before the Olympic hiatus, the teams headed to Colorado Springs for an Olympic-themed version of the show. After a ton of hard work and trying their hand at some Olympic sports, the double elimination began, where Melissa fell below the yellow line and was automatically eliminated from the competition. Cheryl and Darrell were the next two lowest and were up for elimination a twisty, cliffhanger elimination challenge.
We're back to where we left off, Cheryl and Darrell balancing torches on top of their heads. It's already been established that Darrell has a significant knee problem, and he's clearly the underdog in this challenge. He starts wincing in pain while Cheryl is totally fine. In an expected ending, Darrell drops his torch just before the 10 minute mark, sending the dad home.
This week's first challenge is a temptation with, literally, hundreds of cookies. Hundreds. Looking at all of them even made me sick, and there have been quite a few nights where I've polished off a box or two (Samoas, anyone?). Ali tells the teams that whoever wins this temptation challenge will get a huge reward: they'll be able to divide everyone into the two traditional teams, Blue and Black. Also, they could give one contestant immunity from this week's elimination. Let the games begin!
First off, everyone had to volunteer to play. There was a giant memory board and behind each slot was a food item. If you matched the food items, your opponent had to eat it, but if you didn't, then you had to eat a cookie. Behind two spaces were golden tickets and, if those were matched, the game would end and that person would win. Only Michael and Andrea chose to play the game, leaving everyone else to watch in despair. In the end, Michael ate 2,310 calories (more than the average man's daily intake limit), but won the golden ticket. Andrea walked away defeated after downing 1,320.
Mike wasted no time getting down to business and he showed everyone he was out to play for himself. The new (completely unmatched) teams are:
Black (Jillian): Andrea, Ashley, Cheryl, Sam, Stephanie and Sherry
Blue (Bob): Daris, Koli, Lance, Michael, Miggy, and Sunshine
Mike gives O'Neal immunity for the week, so he's team-less for now, but safe nonetheless. I couldn't wait for Jillian's reaction to Michael's pseudo-battle of the sexes matchup and, when it came, it was totally worth it. She gets in Mike's face and tears him apart, then goes completely zen and starts training her team. Apparently she doesn't like being the underdog because it reminds her of the "loser fat kid" she was in junior high. Oh, Jillian! You kind of have a heart.
Stephanie, who knows she's on a quickly sinking ship, starts to scramble and strategize, hoping that her team can overcome the monster that Mike has created. Unfortunately in the next challenge, they can't, because it's all brute strength (i.e. hoisting a banner to the top of a building). They take a hit to their morale, but it's questionable whether or not it will affect their weight loss.
It's last chance workout time, where Jillian is pushing her team hard. She rarely ever loses a season of the Biggest Loser (by that I mean the winner is usually trained by her for a majority of the time at the ranch), and she's showing that she wants it bad. Then it was time for the weigh-in, and the results are as follows:
O'Neal: -9 (-2.77%) [immune]
Blue Team:
Daris: -7
Koli: -10
Lance: -5
Michael: -15
Miggy: -4
Blue Team Total: -48 (-2.70%)
Black Team:
Andrea: -5
Ashley: -10
Cheryl: -4
Sam: -8
Sherry: -6
Stephanie: -8
Black Team Total: -41 (-2.82%)
In a stunning upset, the Black Team shows the Blue Team just what they're made of and sends them to the elimination room. Jillian is totally soaking up the pride of winning as the underdog team, while Bob shouts about Miggy and starts making excuses for her. Oh, and Mike is still excited that he just broke Rudy's record of most weight lost in seven weeks. And he was deemed safe because he had the biggest percentage of weight loss on his team this week.
So for the Blue Team, it ultimately came down to Miggy and Lance. I guess Miggy did enough to make Michael feel bad for her, because she got his vote to send Lance home, but the other four voted for Miggy, sending her packing.
Back at home, Miggy is taking meditation to try and filter her energy and she's made huge steps in becoming the positive person she always wanted to be. With the help of Nicole from last season, Miggy is down another 16 pounds from when she left the ranch. Darrell has also lost a whopping 45 pounds at home, and both are well on their way to their goals before the finale.
