The Real World: DC

by Matt Anaya

A few relationships were tested this week on The Real World: DC as Josh and his girlfriend, Ashley, fought off rumors of infidelity and Ty continued to try to get closer to Emily but she keeps pushing him away.

Josh has been struggling with his GF ever since he moved to DC and has finally reached his breaking point. Josh's mother randomly called to warn him that Ashley cheated on him in Philly and he had a mini meltdown. His mother said she was making out with some other kid but she was only telling him because she was looking out for her son, not trying to make him angry. Josh got really upset when he found out about Ashley and decided he needed to get his nose pierced to fight off the pain inside.

Josh's GF came by later in the show and the two acted like nothing ever happened and he was relieved to have his girl back. The odd thing is after she left, Josh went out and brought a girl home. Not sure if that is fair.

Ty and Emily's relationship has gotten stranger by the week. One minute Ty has feelings for Emily (typically after sleeping with her) and another minute he is upset with her because she says she is not interested in dating.

We have discussed how Ty is a super hornball and the only thing he really wants is casual sex on demand. Emily is totally cool with the casual sex part but Ty is constantly bugging her about a relationship when she is not interested.

Ty is interested in the attention of a female and seemingly cannot live without it. He bugs Emily every night to sleep in bed together and she fights him off for hours but typically always gives in. I guess she gives in to shut him up.

Their relationship has become one of the only consistent story lines this season and although boring it is quite difficult to diagnose. It keeps the viewers' attention because sometimes the two love each other and sometimes they do not. It is quite a complicated relationship and the kind of stuff that reality TV producers love.

Erika actually received some good news this week as she was asked to perform one of her songs with a band she really enjoys. The Cab asked her to sing one of her songs at a performance and Erika let us know singing is her passion in life and why she was chosen for this season's Real World. She's not a bad singer and definitely has a chance to be a musician. Bonus points for being from Chicago.

Callie is always struggling with something and this week she is starting to get lonely. To fix herself, she has started drunk dialing former BFs and talking douche bags with GFs.

This poor sweet little Texan has a lot of insecurities and wants a boy to make her feel comfortable. She misses the attention but all she needs to do is loosen up a little bit and she will run into somebody. Callie is a very pretty girl, and ironically enough, I am single and would have no problem striking up a convo with her.

Andrew was in the background for most of this episode and was not seen making out with anyone or saying anything inappropriate. Good for him. I did not know he could control himself.
