Millionaire Matchmaker Season 3

by Michael Lamp

Tonight, on Millionaire Matchmaker, Patti and the gang dealt with the yin and yang of young, short(ish) Jewish guys. The episode opens with Patti at a lecture, debating relationship mantras with a rabbi and wearing a microphone that looks leftover from one of Rick Warren’s mega church appearances.

First up, via videotape, is Tyler who is instantly pegged as the ‘Wo’Man. Patti wants him to grow a pair of balls and says he’s too girly. He’s really not that feminine - more timid than anything.

Our next eligible millionaire is Justin, the former child star of Picket Fences. Patti is worried about his small hands, but I’m more worried about his obnoxious attitude.

Patti is meeting Tyler first. We learn a little more about him and discover that he’s worth over a million just five years after starting a PR agency. His celeb crushes are Natalie Portman and Scarlet Johansson. Maybe he’s one of the 45 people that saw The Other Boleyn Girl in theaters. Patti calls him a fem but he doesn’t care. She tells him he’ll get a rugged girl that way. Ouch. I’m picturing Tyler riding around with some gal named Deb in her Subaru Outback . So hot.

Now, Patti’s going to meet Justin and it’s not long before we realize what a hot mess he is. He claims his net worth is somewhere in the range of 1-10 million, but that’s all he’ll say. I assume that he means he’s worth $950K. Justin calls Patti out for being late and a slight scuffle ensues. Patti gets some “you’re short” zingers in and we discover that Justin, too, has a thing for Natalie Portman.

Next, Patti and co. screen a gaggle of gals. We meet some interesting ladies, some less than interesting ladies, and some train wrecks.

At the cocktail party, Justin is unnecessarily cocky and Tyler is polite and nervous, as expected.

Yikes! As the party progresses, gross Justin gets louder and weirder. Plus, his passes at these chicks are both desperate and obvious. Then, when speaking to the cameras, he’s uber-rude and compares them all to hotter actresses. Classy guy.

Justin takes a liking to Eden, the personal chef. He says he’s “turned on, erotically” by her. As opposed to being turned on, platonically?

Tyler is still playing the nice guy role, but he’s painfully shy. We soon find out that he also likes Eden, the chef, but has taken a liking to Taylor the tall, quiet hottie, as well.

Both guys pick Eden for quick dates and she freaks them both out with stories of her past eating disorder and losing her Mom as a kid. If she leads with this, I’d love to see her by the 4th date. Tyler goes for the tall, quiet hottie and rude boy Justin picks Amy, the sweet Olive Garden server. She’ll bring him all the salad and breadsticks he could ever want.

Patti visits Justin with a stylist in tow and hates on everything in his closet, resulting in a hilarious tantrum. And Patti thought Tyler was the girly one?

Tyler takes Taylor (say that a few times fast, phew) to a personal cooking class with his chef friend. Their conversation is boring me to tears. “I like these plates.” Yawn. They’re both super shy, which seems to work. Tyler ends the date appropriately, by asking to see her again and then awkwardly kissing her.

Justin and Amy hop on a boat and go for a little sail. Justin name drops like crazy and makes fun of Amy’s job at the Garden (rude).

Amy is clearly not interested, but I bet Justin thinks she likes him. The date goes nowhere in a hurry, including an uncomfortable exchange ending with Justin asking Amy if she was happy to be with him instead of Tyler. Her oh so hesitant answer of “um, yeah” pretty much sums up the date.

To the surprise of no one, Justin and Amy haven’t seen each other since their first date. Tyler and Taylor, on the other hand, have become an official item.

Next week the psycho cougar from last season is back. Looks like she and Patti are taking their spats to a whole new level. I can’t wait to see the hilarious tongue-lashings Patti throws her way.
