It's going to be a tough road for Brett on Survivor: Samoa, since he's the only true member of Galu left in the game. With the double elimination of Dave and Monica last week, Brett is going to have to play a very solid social and physical game to make it to that final tribal council and, if he does, he'll be golden for the million. Not only are all of his friends and tribemates on the jury, he will have overcome some serious obstacles to make it to the end. Foa Foa better look out.
Natalie is already starting to bond with Brett. In tonight's reward challenge, the tribe is split into two teams and Russell and Natalie draw rocks to be captains. Natalie chooses Brett and Mick, while Russell takes Jaison and Shambo. The challenge reminds me a bit of Jenga. One at a time, players must pull a rope that is threaded to make a net. On top of the net are coconuts, which will drop if you pull the wrong rope or pull the rope too quickly. The first team to drop 100 coconuts loses. Russell's team gets off to a horrible start, while Natalie prays on her team to let God guide their hands. Unfortunately, God must've been on a coffee break because her team ends up losing after 2 bad rounds in a row. Russell's team will be headed on an overnight trip, complete with a feast.
These rewards are tough because it splits up the tribe, leaving people time to strategize. At camp, Brett works his social game by relaxing and bonding with Mick and Natalie while Russell works Shambo and Jaison to distrust Mick.
At the immunity challenge, players had to run out and count objects frrom pigs to crabs to fish and run back to their playing board to sort out the numbers into a combination that would open a lock. Russell gets off to a great start... not that he needs to win because tonight is the last night he can play his hidden immunity idol. Mick, Brett, and Jaison are right behind him and the end of this competition comes down to the men. Thanks for playing Shambo and Natalie. Jaison tries his lock first and has the numbers wrong and then Mick runs into the same problem. Brett comes from behind to win, which poses a real problem for Foa Foa since he was obviously their next target.
Back at camp, Russell toys with the idea of getting rid of Mick but the others feel that Shambo is a loose cannon. If Mick stays loyal to the Foa Foa four, they have a better chance of beating Brett in the next challenge to get him out as opposed to Shambo. At tribal council, Russell boldly wears his idol (and doesn't play it, because he's a jerk like that... and I love it). Jeff points out that this game gets tough not because you have no choice but to turn on the people that you aligned yourself with and that helped you get this far. True story! When the votes are read, it's Shambo who gets her torch snuffed and sent to the jury.
Be sure to tune in to the Survivor: Samoa finale, Sunday night beginning at 8pm ET on CBS.
