Sarah Rice from The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins

On the season finale of The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins, the Champs took on the Challengers in one last battle, worth $150,000.  It was Evan, Kenny, Derrick, Johnny, and Susie versus Sarah and Kelly Anne.  The teams had to run (for what seemed like forever) and complete a series of tasks in order to make it to the finish line.  Though Sarah and Kelly Anne were able to take an early lead, thanks to some weak stomachs, the Champs proved why they are who they are and came from behind for the win.  Today, Sarah talked to RealityWanted in an exclusive interview about her experiences on the show, the reunion that airs on MTV tomorrow night, and what she’s up to now.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: This season, the challenge got really ugly really fast.  Were you prepared for how personal the game can get?
A. Sarah: I had heard things about that.  To be honest, it wasn’t as bad as I thought.  I thought I was going to be ostracized and cast aside because I was a rookie and I wasn’t.  A lot of people gave me grief, emailing me and saying things like, “You tried to be cool for the veterans, you were being an ass kisser…”  That’s gonna help get me to the end.  Kenny, Evan, and Johnny took care of me.  People were a lot nicer than I thought they’d be.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: After the show is over, do a lot of people apologize for what they said or did or is it just kind of understood among you guys that this is a tv show?
A. Sarah: I think most people know that it’s a television show.  I heard a lot of apologies from Kenny and Katie.  I think most of us know that your relationship with somebody on the show is different than real life.  You have to not take things so seriously.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: On paper, the Challengers looked good.  What do you think was the biggest problem with your team?
A. Sarah: The Champs screwed us by keeping Shauvon and Casey.  We’re only as strong as our weakest link and we had two.  The challenge where we had to make the rafts, we were smoking the Champs.  We would’ve blown them out of the water but we had Casey.  Love her to death… don’t wanna be on a team with her.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You made it to the final challenge with Kelly Anne.  What was she like to work with and have as a partner and teammate?
A. Sarah: Kelly Anne and I were a good team.   I am super bossy and she’s super good at taking direction.   At the puzzle, she was like, “Tell me what to do.”  I would tell her what to look for and she would listen.  It wasn’t like that expression… too many cooks in the kitchen… which I think was the problem with the Champs sometimes.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How far behind the Champs were you?
A. Sarah: Literally minutes.  It was absolutely frustrating.  Watching Kelly Anne on that balance beam for 15 minutes killed me especially when we found out that we lost by 7 minutes.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted:
Are you proud of the fact that you were able to show people just how competitive and physical you are?
A. Sarah: Oh yeah!  That was my favorite part.  My own family said to me, “Okay see you in a week, yeah right you’re going to compete against these people.”  I was like, “You guys have no idea.”  I love being right.  I wanted to show people that there are more competitive badass girls besides Evelyn and Rachel.  There’s a new wave of girls and we’re tough chicks.  I’d love if they did another Battle of the Sexes - we could win it!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted:
Tomorrow night is the reunion on MTV.  Can we expect a lot of drama?
A. Sarah: You can always expect drama when you get us together.  We all talk over each other.  There’s a lot of that and a lot of yelling.  Johnny Bananas spent the whole time defending himself and his actions.  You’ve had a while to cool off and to think.  You’ve seen the episodes and what everybody said.  You feel like this is your one chance to say everything… of course only about 20% of it makes to air.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What are you up to now?
A. Sarah: I’m moving to L.A.  I’ve been living in Orange County for a while.  I’ve been working with different volunteer groups and doing events and appearances from the show.  In the spring, I start touring, doing speaking engagements about sexual abuse.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Would you do another challenge?
A. Sarah: Oh my goodness, for sure!  I will do every challenge they ask me to do.  I love it, I love the drama, I love the fighting, I love the winning, I love everyone in one house.  It’s like summer camp!
