The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 2

By Chandra Clewley

The night begins with Andy asking The Real Housewives of Atlanta if they know how much famous people love them? Lisa says that she is friends with Tyler Perry and that he loves it, NeNe says she is in touch with Gayle King and that she knows she follows it, and Ashton Kutcher talked about how he and Demi watch it on Rachel Zoe.

The subject of wig pulling comes up a bit later and the mention of Lindsay Lohan’s father Mike being present during the fight between Kim and Sheree comes up. Apparently, Mike Lohan was present for the entire fight and at one point Kim’s friend Fernando (who is friends with Mike Lohan) allegedly makes out with Kim. They re-play the clip and while it does look like Kim and Fernando are making out on the street, most likely, if you look reallllllly hard, they are NOT making out….not sure though. The jury is still definitely out on that one!

Dwight, like usual, graces the girls with his presence and proceeds to comment and criticize all of the girls’ looks the night of the reunion. Finally, growing tired of it, the girls ask if they can criticize his outfit. He feels that it is “low key” tonight with them and that they are not getting “into it” like they usually do. He then admits to getting a penile implant when Kim calls him out on it, and says it should be just as accepted and common as breast implants are today.

The subject of both fashion lines: Closet Freak by Lisa Wu Hartwell and She by Sheree come up and Lisa calls it so “second grade” that they are bringing this up as if they are competing against each other. Sheree seems genuinely happy that Dwight helped her with the production of her fashion show and admits that in retrospect he had valid critiques of her show. On the other side, Lisa disagrees with his harsh criticism of Closet Freak, and says that it was a “performance” not a fashion show and that it was supposed to introduce what Closet Freak would be about, and at the event they even introduced other lines besides hers’. Dwight disagrees and says “It was a show!”

Dwight and Lisa get into. It was show! It was a performance! Until finally Lisa asks Dwight, “Where is YOUR clothing line?”
Kandi addresses the fact that Nene and she got into it during this season. NeNe knows how to push Kandi’s buttons, Kandi claims. During the entire show, NeNe is calling Kandi ghetto and Kandi is calling NeNe hood. Kandi admits that NeNe was her favorite on Season 1 and is bummed that they don’t get along now that Kandi is on the show. But, she says, NeNe is uppity and you don’t know what is true and what is not true with her.

Kim talks about how she used to be a waitress at a strip club called Cheetah Club in Atlanta and how she always wanted to be a One Hit Wonder. Not only has she become a one hit wonder, but she had the #2 ring tone, top 100 on iTunes and #3 on the dance chart for iTunes. Kim is scared to perform live and Andy asks how much of Tardy for The Party auto-tune is. Both Kim and Kandi admit there is a lot of auto-tune but the song is definitely Kim’s voice.

Kim faces her fears and sings for the show. Well….she sounds like she is a contestant at a local karaoke bar, but she still sings which is more than most people would do on TV! Kandi comes out for a milli-second and sings back up.
None of the girls will admit how terrible it was (It WAS terrible).
NeNe calls it “fun” and “great!”

Lisa says it’s “cool” and she was “tapping her foot”
Sheree says again it is “fun” and she “liked the beat”
All of them say it with straight faces.

Kim asks NeNe if someday she will sing the song with her, and NeNe actually agrees to it by saying “Sure.”
Hmmm……do we believe NeNe?

The girls wrap the show by mentioning what they have going:
Lisa has Closet Freak, a book that she and Ed are working on, and of course, the baby.
NeNe is getting ready for a book tour.
Sheree has She by Sheree in the Spring/Summer for retail and a workout video she is filming.
Kim has an album, a book and her KZ Locks wig line.
Kandi has postponed her album but has released an EP.

Kandi closes the season with a live version of “Fly Above” which she dedicates to A.J. who flew above the petty drama and calls it her theme song, while Andy says it should be the Real Housewives of Atlanta theme song.
