Last time on Big Brother 11, Chima
nominated Russell and Lydia, prompting both to scramble for votes. When Kevin
won the Power of Veto, Lydia thought she was assured a trip to safety, but he
shocked her and the house by not using it. But, with Jeff’s Coup D’Etat power
expiring tonight, will he use it?
First a small sidenote: the show tonight
is pre-taped, mainly because Chima has threatened to throw an epic tantrum if
the mystery power is used and her nominations change (i.e. if she gets screwed
over). Never before have I seen the Big Brother producers so scared of what
could happen on live television that they actually tape-delay the episode, but
hey, props to Chima for that.
Per usual, Julie Chen opens the live show
and, woah, she’s gotten big. I really wasn’t aware her stomach went out that
far, but, again, props to Ms. Chen for still rocking it while being very, very
pregnant.
In the house, everyone is stressing over
the “Wizard,” which is the made up name that somehow came about referring to
the Coup d’Etat. Jessie and Natalie know that it could be used on them, and it
seems as if Jessie can see his endgame slowly approaching to club him over the
head. To try and counter the power, Jessie and Natalie deduce that Jeff or
Jordan probably hold it and try to get on their good side.
As if it weren’t clear enough that Jeff
and Jordan have gone from zero to hero in the house, Russell figures out that
he needs the duo to stay in the house. However, even with those two votes, he
needs at least two more to ensure his safety. He approached Jessie, but Jessie
shoots him down, leaving him with no choice but to grovel to Michele. Jessie,
however, isn’t having any of it and reminds Michele how Russell called her a
psycho, effectively sealing Russell’s fate.
Just to reiterate why we’re watching on a
tape delay, Chima makes it clear in the HoH room to everyone that she’s almost
positive Jeff has the power and, if he uses it, there’s going to be a whole lot
of drama for people to deal with.
So since there’s really not much else to
show, we get to get a peek inside Chima’s family instead. Chima’s grandmother
tells us that she pronounces her name different from the traditional way, which
she’s not too happy about. Her grandma is also not a fan of her loud mouth or
fighting. At least her family recognizes it, too! Cut to Chima in the HoH, who
tells Julie that she doesn’t regret fighting with Russell at all. Oh Chima,
you’re disappointing Granny Flo!
Now it’s eviction time—but wait, it’s
actually Coup d’Etat time! Jeff stands up to use the power (and everyone acts
surprised even though no one’s acting has improved since entering the house),
and off comes Russell and Lydia, getting replaced by Natalie and Jessie. Jessie
takes his shirt off to reveal another shirt with his picture on it and a slogan
starting with “The man…the myth…”—something that just makes you want to ask why
he ever put that on.
Natalie tries to play it off as if she
expected it, though you can tell in her voice she was really hoping she was
wrong, while Jessie seems ready to walk out the door. He even compliments Jeff
on the smart move, which must have required a lot of pride-swallowing on
Jessie’s part. The votes go:
Lydia: NATALIE
Jordan: JESSIE
Kevin: JESSIE
Michele: JESSIE
Russell: NATALIE (Jury vote seeker much?)
So, with that, the ego reign of Jessie
comes to an end as he walks out the door and into the first spot on the Big
Brother 11 jury. He seems really happy…like unnecessarily happy. Trying to hide
something, big guy? I think so. Apparently he thinks he has a shot at the WWE
now, so at least he has aspirations.
The Head of Household competition is one
of those eliminator type, face-off competitions where you get it right and the
other person is out or you get it wrong and you’re out. Then, the winner picks
the next two people to face off and so on until a winner is crowned. After
Lydia, Russell, Natalie, Jordan and Chima are all eliminated, Michele is forced
to play for the first time against Jeff. Jeff loses, as does Kevin, giving
Michele the power of Head of Household.
But wait, it gets better! Next week is a
double eviction week. So not only do we have the ultimate fence rider in
control for the upcoming week, but we get to see immediate results live next
Thursday in the chaotic aftermath that is Michele’s HoH reign.
Tune in to Big Brother on Sunday at 8/7c
to see who Michele nominates for eviction and how Chima deals with both her
nominees surviving the week on the block.
