The show got a lot of publicity this week because of producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe who made comments toward same-sex dance duo Misha Belfer and Mitchel Kibel during last week’s premiere. GLAAD had a lot to say about those comments and asked fans of the show to email and call Fox to request an apology from Lythgoe.  Although producers from the show apologized for possibly offending any viewers, Nigel quipped back via Twitter "I am very sad the word 'homophobe' is being used. That is someone who hates homosexuals. I dislike effeminate dancing! Wake up and listen!"   I really doubt that Nigel is a homophobe because those types of people can’t even think about watching a man dance in any way, shape or form, never mind watching a same-sex couple.  So I say give the guy a break will you?  He didn’t mean anything by it.

The second episode kicked off with auditions in Miami, Florida. Tyce was on his game tonight and he was hysterical!  There were more bad performances than good ones (that we were able to see) so there were only four stand-outs for me and they were Priscilla Marrero, Janette Manrara and her partner Romulo Villaverde, and Erik (Silky) Moore.

Then it was off to Memphis, Tennessee for more auditions which started off pretty bad (whether one has Back Street Boy genes or not).  I am really trying, in the early stages of auditions, to not get too negative about any of the contestants.  But then there are people like Chris Carrozza who are simply just asking for it!   His dancing wasn’t half as bad as his hairdo, his clothes, and his delusional (and RUDE) attitude.  So who stood out for me?  The absolutely stunning Caitlin Kinney and brothers extraordinaire Evan and Ryan  Kasprzak.

The last of the auditions will continue in Los Angeles and Seattle…….
