Sione Fa from The Biggest Loser Couples

by David McAlpine and Gina Scarpa

This week, on The Biggest Loser: Couples, hardcore contestant Sione found himself below the yellow line after dropping only 4 pounds at the weigh-in.  Knowing what a threat he is to win this game, Laura and Helen decide to send him home.  Currently, he’s down to 235 pounds and has begun training to become a certified personal trainer.  Today, he spoke to RealityWanted in an exclusive interview about his experiences on and off The Biggest Loser ranch.

Q. David, RealityWanted: Whose idea was it to join The Biggest Loser?
A. Sione: It was my decision to try out- first person I thought of was Filipe and we went for it.

Q. David, RealityWanted: What was the biggest challenge on campus, especially after spending all that time at home?
A. Sione: Hardest part was being away from family, missing them, but at the same time being a little selfish by focusing only on myself.

Q. David, RealityWanted: Was your experience of being on the show what you expected?
A. Sione: I expected that it was going to be hard, having to lose the weight but really you have no idea what you're getting yourself into. As hard as it was physically, it was just as hard emotionally.

Q. David, RealityWanted: Going into The Biggest Loser knowing it's a game and $250,000 is on the line, how much did you intend to "play the game" and why?
A. Sione: We intended to "play the game" by beating the scale every week. That was our only strategy. We tried to play fair and honest. Voting people off is just part of the game.

Q. David, RealityWanted: Was there a different feeling on the campus after you voted for Ron, especially since he trained with you and Filipe?
A. Sione: Definitely there was a lot of tension between me & Ron because I tried to vote him off and he stayed. Even though he trained with us his primary focus was his son. I did what was best for me.

Q. David, RealityWanted: Did you think that there was a chance Laura would keep you?

A. Sione: No. I knew the second I fell below with Helen that I was gone. But don't get me wrong, I didnt go without a fight- I plead my case to Laura.

Q. David, RealityWanted: Laura said she voted for you because she wanted to look out for her best interests. Why do you think she voted you off?
A. Sione: I think her best interest was Tara and we were always neck and neck in most challenges.

Q. David, RealityWanted: How are you keeping in shape at home and working towards your goal for the finale of The Biggest Loser?
A. Sione: I was able to adapt the same workout routine that I did for the 30 days at home and apply to now. I won't stop until I get there!

Q. David, RealityWanted: After being at home, what have you found to be the hardest thing about continuing your weight loss journey away from the ranch?
A. Sione: I feel lucky that while on the ranch I learned that I didn't need the ranch to lose weight. Obviously you don't work out 7-8 hours a day at home like you do on the ranch so you're going to see different results but you just have to work as hard as you can with the time you are given and make every minute count.
