The Hills

After watching the second episode of MTV’s The Hills tonight I really do not see how Heidi and Spencer can have a future. Picking up where they left off, Heidi confronts Spencer about flirting with the bartender. Once again Spencer successfully manages to turn the argument around and blame Heidi for not trusting him. Why should she? Whenever she turns around he is flirting with someone new, and this time is no different. In an effort to clear her head Heidi heads back home to Colorado to be with her family.  I was so glad that Heidi’s mom Darlene finally said that Spencer is the reason why everything good in Heidi’s life has been ruined.

I did actually feel terrible for Heidi when her mother blatantly invited her ex Colby to dinner and tried to act as if it were a coincidence. Darlene kept going on and on about wonderful Colby is and how much she loves him. I was cringing for Heidi, especially when Darlene pointed out that Heidi and Spencer are in a fight, and how maybe Heidi and Colby can get back together.  If I were Heidi I would have excused myself and left the restaurant. We all want to see Heidi with anyone other than Spencer, but Darlene was wrong to push Colby on her.

Because Lauren and Stephanie share a class together, they decided to go shopping for their project together. Clearly Lauren is still upset about Stephanie inviting Heidi to her birthday party, and with good reason. Lauren then asks Stephanie about everything once again, and again Stephanie refuses to take responsibility. I’m so glad that Lauren finally stuck up for herself and told Stephanie flat out to stop forcing Heidi on her. I just hope that Lauren realizes that Stephanie is not her friend, and that she needs to create some distance from her.

In the final few minutes, Brody and Lauren meet up to talk about the Heidi/Spencer feud. Brody tells Lauren that Spencer called him for advice about the fight.  I guess by Brody calling Spencer his friend I guess it means the pair have set aside their differences.  I think it is a little ridiculous that Spencer and Brody were sworn enemies and then became best friends again in two minutes. It also got me questioning how Brody can be so quick to forgive Spencer, but Lauren cannot forgive Heidi. Maybe this season we will finally see Heidi and Lauren settle their differences as well.
