The Hills

MTV’s The Hills is back with season five, and already, episode one was filled with drama.  The episode opens with Lo Bosworth and Audrina Patridge planning a surprise birthday party for Lauren Conrad.  The bash sounds like it is going to be great, until we find out that Stephanie Pratt is invited and asked Heidi to crash the party with her.  Did Stephanie miss the entire last season in which her attempts to reunite Lauren and Heidi failed miserably? Of all the times to pull a stunt like that she picks Lauren’s birthday, proving once again what a bad friend she is.  My favorite part was when Lauren asked Stephanie why Heidi was there and Stephanie ha the nerve to say that Heidi invited herself. In a further effort to avoid taking responsibility for her actions, Stephanie claims she doesn’t know why she is constantly getting involved in the Lauren/Heidi feud. Maybe it has something to do with her own life lacking drama.

What episode of The Hills would be complete without drama from our favorite couple Heidi and Spencer?  I’ll be honest, as much as I love to hate Spencer I still cannot stop watching to see what he does and says next. While the Lauren birthday drama is taking place, Spencer decides to go to a bar with his friend and get completed wasted. In doing so, he proceeds to hit on the bartender right in front of Stephanie’s ex boyfriend. Long story short, Heidi ends up finding out and calls Spencer who denies everything. I never thought a day would come where Spencer would stop playing video games and get off the couch, let alone walk across the bar and repeatedly punch Stephanie’s ex.  I love that Spencer tried to act all tough by calling the guy “homie” and “bro” and asking him to hit Spencer first.  I just didn’t think Spencer had it in him to get in a fight. I have to say I’m impressed that the guy needed stitches.

In the last few minutes, Lauren, being a good friend, as usual, goes to comfort Heidi who is shaken by all the drama. It really did seem as if there was hope for the pair to be friends again. They cried over memories they have of each other, and Lauren even admitted to still loving Heidi. Lauren has every right to be mad at Heidi for choosing Spencer over her, but watching Heidi following her around like a lost puppy breaks my heart. I think Heidi is starting to understand what everyone has been saying about Spencer. I understand wanting to stick by your man, but it seems she realizes now that her choice has ruined all her most important relationships.

To watch the rest of the drama unfold, check out The Hills Monday nights at 10pm on MTV.
