Ghost Hunters International (GHI), “Spanish Scares”

Castillo de la Coracera – Madrid, Spain
Few haunted locations live up to those occupied by castles.  Built in the 14th century, the castle has held up well adding to the image in your mind when it was first built.  Napoleon was said to have spent time there, probably when it was as nice as a W Hotel, without the Snobbish staff…or maybe with the same snobbish staff.  Last used as a cult gathering for the former owners peculiar friends, the questions of whether the various past deaths at the castle were deaths or suicides brought on by Satanic worship, still reside.

With the brothers of one past owner allegedly buried in the wall in a unmarked grave, one would expect a pretty exciting night from a place 700+ years old.  Grunts, groans, whispers, and knocks kept the teams attention throughout the night.  The end result was that the team could not get any real evidence in their nights’ investigation and could not call the castle haunted.

Castel d’ Escales – Celra, Spain
Built in the Mid-Evil times, a 1000+ years ago, this castle had built up quite a reputation over the years.  The Tower, the oldest part of the castle, was built in 1050 as a look-out and for protection against the French army…yes at one time, people were scared of the French army.  Cold spots, light bulbs unscrewing themselves, loud noises, and faucets turning on in the night got the attention of the current owners and guests.

In not a moment too soon, Jason and Grant from “Ghost Hunters” made a guest appearance, by phone and video, to help debunk the plumbing issue which could be causing the faucets to turn on by themselves. Every good ghost hunter, and plumber, knows that the bearings of faucet knobs wear down over time and cause the faucets to magically turn on.  There were not many scary moments during the investigation so the audience hoped the GHI team found something in the review of the evidence.  Even lacking was the show cutting to commercial when someone heard a “foots step” or saw a “shadow.” Another strike-out for the GHI team but it was a cool location and sometimes the story alone makes the show.

Team Notes:
Team investigator Angela announced that she got engaged, we can only assume her fiancé felt the fire of her new fame and decided to close the deal.  Brandi had to sit there and take the news, not one of her most memorable moments on the show one could guess.  No matter what Brandi has going on behind the scenes with her men, girls take it strangely when someone gets engaged in the group, and it’s not them.  The producers didn’t go for a close-up of Brandi’s face after the news like they would have done on “The Bachelor.”  Who knows, maybe we could have caught her saying something under her breath like “that’s his problem.”
