Hells Kitchen Chef Wil

Interview with Wil from Hells Kitchen Season 5

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Tell us what you were doing prior to the show and what you do now?

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: Before I went on Hells Kitchen I was working at Red Star Tavern as a regional chef. I took a break to participate in Hells Kitchen and now I am back at the Red Tavern.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Did you watch Hells Kitchen in the past?

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: I just caught a few episodes of season 3 and season 4.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Why did you apply?

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: I saw they were going to be in town and I said why not. I did not expect to get on the show even when I was in the finals.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: After talking with everyone who has landed roles on reality shows it sounds like you needed to go in not thinking you will make it.

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: Honestly I never thought I would get to the finals.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: What did you think about the show?

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: I think Hells Kitchen is more a game show as opposed to a cooking show.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: What was that final selection like in the opening sequence?

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: I wish they would have had more of that on air and show the reaction of everyone walking into Hells Kitchen. Walking into the restaurant and down the halls was amazing.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: What was the biggest surprise taking part in this?

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: Seeing myself on TV, it wasn’t a dream.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: What did you think of Colleen getting torn apart by Chef Ramsey?

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: Chef Ramsey really dug into her and I didn’t know she mixed up with salt with sugar for the risotto. I was thinking she may have lost a few students from her culinary classes.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Any surprising moments from watching last nights show?

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: A lot of the stuff with the red team was new to me. The things with Seth were surprising to me, I didn’t realize this since I was so focused doing what I needed to do. I was also surprised with Giovanni and his performance in the dining room.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: What surprised you about Giovanni?

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: I watched the episode with a bunch of chefs who have been in the business for years, they could not believe he didn’t know how to wait tables since you need to know all aspects of a kitchen as a chef.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: What went wrong at your station?

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: I seriously thought I was going to be on another station and that’s my fault. I think Seth was the one who prepped the garnish station. Ramsey lined us up before opening and told us what station we would be on. All the prep work we had done for the stations we thought we would be on was thrown out the window.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: Were you surprised Rob stepped up and was going to toss himself in your place?

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: It’s nice to see it and it was great Rob did that. I think I earned a lot of respect from my teams for that since we all messed up.

Q. Mark, RealityWanted.com: In hindsight you shouldn't have nominated yourself.

A. Wil, Hells Kitchen Season 5: Not at all, I do not regret the decision.
